Has anybody heard anything more about these? I was expecting a product anouncement at some point.

I am wondering if these might be a good solution for my Dad. He is complaining that he has a hard time with dialog in movies. He is currently litening via the TV speakers.

My though was 3 of some small speaker across the front to improve clarity in the midrange. The room is small, ~s 12x12.

MDrew was supposed to give us a review of those "cute little farts". He probably saw something shiny.

I think that would be an excellent solution for your Dad, but you'd need to introduce a receiver to the chain also, which might make the control/UI "different" for him. My Old People are not into "different".

Maybe one of those self-contained deals like a Polk Soundbar or something?

No Mark, that honor is exclusively yours to bear……….. Don’t worry though, if I ‘really’ thought you were a prick, I’d just ignor you.

I just installed the Accents for a buddy of mine the past few days. It ended up being a bit of a remodel, which took a lot longer than I had originally thought it would. So, in other words, I did not spend much time listening to the little farts to give much of review.

The room they went in is pretty large and open. The Accents definitely were not my first choice for this room. My buddy wanted ‘small’, without any regard to SQ. He’s an odd duck that way. So when the Accents became available, I showed them to him and he asked me to order them. I cheated a little bit and got him the EP 400 to go along with them. I tried to get an EP500, but that was too big for him….

Along with the Accents, I had my buddy order a 3808, pick up a BR player (Panasonic BD 65) and a new TV. Going with his preferences of ‘small’, he wanted a ‘thin’ TV. Again, no regard to image quality, just thin. I found him a Samsung 46” LED TV that’s about 1” thick. After mounting the TV to the wall, I mounted the Accents to right / left and one directly under the TV. The surrounds had to go to a back wall. One was 23’ away, the other 13’ away. The TV is 10’ away from the couch.

I was very surprised at just how much sound these things can put out. They definitely fill the room (roughly 26’ X 20’ with a vaulted ceiling). The EP 400 is equally impressive. They have Axiom’s typical detail orientated sound charactoristics and the EP augments the bass / LFE nicely.

In a couple weeks I have to travel back to where my buddy lives and will spend more time listening to this set up when I calibrate his TV. I’ll post a review of sorts at that time. But for now, if anyone is wanting a 'smallish' solution for improved sound, and is smart enough to know Bose isn't a wise option, the Accents are a very good compromise (over larger bookshelf or towers). If you're looking for a flat out 'rockin' system, you should stick with towers, but for good sound, at moderate SPL levels, the Accents are a nice option.

mdrew you picked out some nice equipment for your buddy. The EP400 was probably the better match due to its more compact size. BTW what crossover point is your buddy using with his Accents?

I’m armed and I’m drinking. You don’t want to listen to advice from me, amigo.

I set it at 150. Audyssey picked 120, but 150 sounded a bit better to me. He called me yesterday telling me how much he is enjoying the new set up. This guy might watch five hours of TV a year, but yesterday he bought several BR disks and sat through two movies and a BR concert.

Excellent news. The Accent are tempting for my library. And the EP400 too...

Excellent indeed. Sounds like they would work well for my dad.
