Randy, after reading that linked Odyssey material, I really have to admire Rick's restraint. Restraining myself not quite to that extent, I'll just point out that someone who builds fine equipment and is a personable fellow may nevertheless have a bizarre collection of thoughts not supported by audio principles in some areas.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

I will have to find out for myself I guess. There are thousands of people out there that have great knowledge of this industry and would disagree. Maybe a $600 Onkyo is one thing, but a $7,000+ piece of high end equipment may be different.
You really are not familiar with Mr. Bunge's background with German Acoustics prior to him moving to the states, or his relationship with Rolf Gemein the founder of Symphonic Line. Rolf is one of the pioneer's of this industry and I'm pretty sure he knows what he is talking about. Klaus is very respected among the high end community, and I guess his bizarre products and familiy lineage can speak for itself.

OK, not that I care one way or the other, but my Luxman stays on 24/7. I use it on the computer, and it's just a PITA to keep turning it on and off. No other reason. But the REAL QUESTION IS..... Randy, when are we going to get some info on that new amp?!?!? Any shut downs? Db levels? Overall impressions? Come on man!!

I cringed while reading that myself. I can understand the initial cold period right after turning on the unit, but if it takes the power supply that long to find the best electrons to send along to the rest of the device, I'd send it back. Hey, maybe that's what was wrong with the Emo?

I think you need one of these
That's a nice piece of equipment, I think I'm leaning towards getting a standalone HDDVD player, after hearing the lossless stuff on BR the 360 add on with only optical audio output just doesn't cut it anymore. Any recommendations on a HDDVD player?

The link to the Odyssey page mainly refers to the initial break-in period for the amplifiers. Obviously not everyone will agree with those statements but for everyone who doesnt there just as many who do.
It does take a few hours before the amp is warmed up and stabilized, I leave mine powered on 24/7, one, because the power switch is on the back and not convenient to turn off, and because other than drawing a few extra watts for no good reason i see no point in turning them off.

I have the X1 but you can't get them anymore. It's pretty irritating anyway. Real friggin slow and not a very intuitive user interface. The X2 is getting some pretty good praise at AVS. But, I think it is not bug free and a lot of owners are pissed at Toshiba waiting for firmware fixes.
The X2, from some of the things I've read is also excellent at up converting sd dvd's (much better than the A2). They did a shoot out with it and a Crystalio Video Processor and it did just as well. The C2 is a $4500 VP. http://www.crystalio.com/
So I don't really know what to tell ya. I think the X2 is the one to get, but I'd read some of the user threads at AVS to see what all the bugs are first. Just ignore the BS.
