Don't feel bad, I want through the same trauma with the 'must use analogue source' thing for zone 2. I should have RTFM but I normally enjoy troubleshooting this kind of stuff, to a point.

I hooked up my zone-2-relevant digital sources via BOTH SPDIF and analog. The main zone gets the digital conversion from the Denon 1804, and the second zone gets the conversion from the PC (or CD player or DVR box). Until I get a fancier receiver that downmixes digital signals to 2-channel stereo for the second zone, I don't have a lot of choice. It works, but my cabling is fugly despite my best intentions.

... but I normally enjoy troubleshooting this kind of stuff, to a point. Yeah, but not when I'm doing this for a friend and I'm supposed to be the one who knows what he's doing. At least he knows I'll get it right even if it takes a few days. My buddy finds it cool that I can come here for answers and help.

Why doesn't your buddy come here himself? We take pretty much anyone, just look at the high poster list to see for yourself.

My goal is to make it into page 1 of the top posters (top 25).
Right now I'm just inside the top 30, near the top of page two. I have made a concerted effort to step it up.

No, you don't. Just because you can't control yourself doesn't mean you have to.
On a related note, I'm about to hit 9900....

I think in light of the recent competitive rash of one to few word posts lately, the administrator should incorporate a rule that a post must be 20 words long to count, not including the signature.
Then I thought, this would only encourage mindless drivel. So then I thought, maybe we should be rewarded for short posts. Then I thought, I should just stop thinking.
