Although US and Canadian $ have decreased in value compared to the €, and I was expecting a subsequent decrease in price, the opposite has happened. The US Dollar is up almost 20% against the Euro in the last 3 months. That may have something to do with it.

Just to clarify, I'm not an Axiom employee or representative.

Regarding the Euro price increase... that's only 7%... I'm trying to see things from both sides, but that's an awfully modest increase to be feeling so angry about. The cost of almost all raw materials has gone up greatly in the past year, it really does not seem that surprising to me. Personally, I think my Axioms are worth 7% more than I paid for them anyway (Axiom, don't read this)... Jason

Axiom has done a good job of maintaining competitive pricing over the years. Like Jason said, the cost of raw materials has gone haywire over the last 6 months and more. Copper alone just about blew up over the last few months and is finally coming down a bit. Add to that the cost of shipping, that Axiom figures into their price, has skyrocketed as well.
Yeah, it's no fun when prices go up, but up they must go if businesses want to maintain a profit.

Ratticon - Welcome to the club on the economic crash! I'm pretty sure it comes down to currency values. The British Pound is down ~15% in the last 4 months against the US dollar ( see chart), and Axiom can't afford to absorb the drop in value of the Pound without some adjustment. I imagine the ~20% hike versus ~15% drop in value is to protect themselves from additional swings in value of the Pound/Dollar ratio, which isn't hard to imagine given the wild ride we've all been on in the last month or two. Hopefully in time it will stabilize... Jason The price in Austrlian dollars went up by 30% for the same reason The Aussie dollar chart I wonder if they calculate prices in local currencies based on the Canadian or US dollar?

I am based in Melbourne and was about to buy a pair of M22s. Just got a nasty suprise when I checked the Australian $ prices today. While I still might buy, I will go back to the drawing board and see if I can find any better deals about. Surely there must be tens of thousands of bankers/stock market types who will be selling their speakers on E-Bay to pay for their kids education? Their misery may be my opportunity! what is the point of an economic meltdown if everything gets more expensive?

I believe all prices are based off the US dollar.

When I bought the Axioms 1€ was worth about 1,26 $. Today 1€ has a value of about 1,35 $. This is a difference of slightly over 7%, and well below inflation rates in both the USA and Belgium, so there should not be any increase in price. Furthermore, in June and July of 2008, when the US $ exchange rate was down to about 1,6 $ for 1 € (-27%), there was no discount. BTW : two years ago, I dealt with Axiom directly, while bargaining for a decent price (at that time they only had prices in $ and their knowledge of overseas P & P , (and import taxes)was far from perfect, and maybe a bit amateurish,...but very friendly and likeable. Now they seem to have become another Big Company. Come on Axiom, proove me wrong.

Have you in fact called them? (not that I think you have a leg to stand on)
Also, the price increases have happened across the board (read, across the world, US and Canada) since you bought.
I fail to see how you were "ripped off" when you haven't bought a product since the price increases.
