A couple pairs of headphones arrived in the mail today . I have only taken the AD700 out of the box to inspect them due to the damage on the box - they are fine, they are purple , they are huge headphones and they are very comfortable. Time to do some listening now .

If you're jealous now, then just wait until he reveals that it's one pair for Regina, and one for him.

I've had my SH840's for a few weeks now. Got them from RMC Audio for $129 shipped. GREAT DEAL, but I had to order in July and wait until last month for delivery.
Lots of detail and solid bass. My Grado HF2's have a bit more clarity but that's an unfair comparison. BUT the 804's come w/ an extra cable, 1/4" adapter, and a bag. Great deal and easy to drive.

I have put them through an initial quality assurance test. The Shure SRH440 are very nice looking headphones and have rock solid build quality. The build quality in this price range ($100) is very impressive. They also come with a detachable coiled cable, 1/4 adapter and a leather type material carrying case...nice touch Shure. I find these cans very comfortable, more so than my MS-1. Sound quality delivers as well. Nicely balanced, detailed treble, great bass. Oldskoolboarder, the fact you got the SRH840's for $129 is an unbelievable deal, what a steal , these are very nice closed headphones for the price.

If you have glasses, how's the comfort for long term? I love my AKGs, but my head starts hurting if I wear them for longer than 15-20 minutes. My Senn HD280s are better, but still painful after about an hour or so.

The Audio Technica AD700 are unique. They are purple and have a very unique design. The build quality is very good but not as rugid as the Shure. These headphones are massive and are so comfortable. If comfort is your thing, these would be one of the headphones to consider. The AD700 also have very good sound quality but are different than the MS1 and 440. The treble is not as detailed but they make up for it in soundstage. There is a lot of hype about the soundstage on this headphone and they are correct.

Yeah, I know, $129 was WAY too good to pass up, especially considering I had already ordered my Grado HF2's. Which, BTW, are the best headphones I have. VERY close to the Axiom sound. Are at the AT bigger than the Shure's? I was hoping to use my 840's for travel but I look like a moose w/ them on, they're massive. But the sound isolation is SO good I could ride a plane next to my kid and not hear them during the entire flight. Good for me, not so much for my neighbors.

However, I have read some people complain that they can be uncomfortable if you have glasses on.
