Hello all!
I have a quick question on the placement of the speakers. I live up north close to Canada so we get Very cold weather, lots of snow and lots of wind.
I was thinking of placing my speakers under my deck which is about three feet off of the ground. I am sure I will loose a litte clarity, but with these speakers should I be worried about the snow and ice?
Thoughts?

This is what it says on the product info "Waterproof speaker - not affected by rain, snow or sleet."

Isn't that the slogan for the US Postal Service, lol. Welcome JC, I think we have many who live in the northern states that experience the good ole Canadian frigid temps in the winter, as well as some Canadian friends. Hopefully they will post soon. It gets pretty darn cold here in Iowa, but I don't own any Algonquins yet.

Thoughts? When your dealing with any outdoor speaker it is always best to find a spot where there is at least some protection from some of the direct elements (wind, sun, rain/snow). More protection, better longevity. According to what has been stated in the past, listening to the speakers in the extreme cold (-20+ degrees Celsius) could cause the viscosity of the ferro-fluid in the tweeter to change which could cause a loss in clarity (duller sound) temporarily.
I’m armed and I’m drinking. You don’t want to listen to advice from me, amigo.

I live in Montana, where it can also get a tad blustery in the winter. I have my outdoor speakers (sadly not Algonquins) mounted under the roof eaves facing down toward the deck. That way they get very little direct weather and the sound is reflected nicely from the eaves and house walls to fill the deck area. They've been up there for six years now and still seem to be more or less completely unaffected. I'm actually kind of wishing they'd fail in some way so I could justify those Algonquins...

I have two pairs. I actually just hooked them up today and was very impressed. I've had some outdoor speakers before (mirage) but these are much better. They have been outside for about 5 months now. One is exposed, One is semi exposed and two are not. The one which is semi-exposed has rust on the grill already which is an issue I am dealing with.
I've place one pair about 40 feet apart and was still impressed with the stereo imaging. The other pair is 30 feet, tucked up into some corners. Imagining is great. There is more bass likely due to the placement in the corner.
I'm very impressed. I was going to buy a 3rd pair for the future bar area but based on what I've heard they are not warranted. Axiom, you've made a product too good for your own good.

I've had mine outside for a couple of years now. They are positioned under an overhang, so they get some protection. They look and sound as good as the day I got them. The only problem is that I have to shoo the birds away from the back port. They love to nest there.

I would attach some fine wire so that critters can't get in.
