Hi all. I have LFR880HP speakers and amp. Used for audio from a Samsung TV (via optical out and a DAC to the amp) and an Apple TV and AirPlay for audio streaming. The only real frustration is inability to control the volume from my phone.
So I am considering a Transformer, which if I understand correctly, should solve that problem. And should also allow AirPlay to stream directly to the Transformer, and hence the speakers, without the complexity of the Apple TV Samsung TV in between.
Am I correct that the Transformer should allow direct AirPlay to the Axiom speaker system and also control over the volume of the amp via the Axiom app?
Thanks, Bill

Why can't you control the volume using the Apple TV remote or Apple TV phone app (I'm assuming you have an iPhone)?

Thanks, Mojo. For reasons I don't understand sometimes no volume control is available with AirPlay (dimmed out). And when it is available, often the adjustment range is inadequate given the setting of the hardware volume knob on the amp.

According to section 1 of the Transformer manual, volume using iOS is adjusted using the Apple Control Centre. In that sense, the Transformer is just hosting or passing through AirPlay. Therefore, the problem you're having will also appear with the Transformer.

Thanks again, Mojo. I could not find a Transformer manual to download on the Axiom site.
I'd have thought the Axiom app would be able to directly control the Transformer volume, but perhaps that's not the case.

The manual for the Freedom and Force applies to the Transformer. The firmware and software are the same. Here's the manual. https://axiom-manuals.s3.amazonaws.com/N2_1.2.pdfNote the hard volume control only works for the analog input and not digital streams. The soft volume control in the AxiomAir app also works with the analog input and Android but I don't know if it works with iOS. The only reference I see to iOS volume is with the iOS Control Centre.
