Best-Sounding Games on Axiom Speakers!
By Axiom Forum Members
With the popularity of gaming systems like Xbox360 and PlayStation3 (PS3) and the sophisticated multi-channel soundtrack mixes attached to some of the games, we thought it was time for Axiom owners to rate the best-sounding games. Here are some Axiom forum members’ top contenders for best games on the best gaming speakers with candid comments attached, edited from the forums.
Dr. House (XBox 360; 5.1): “Gears of War 1/2, Call of Duty 4, Rainbow Six Vegas, Resident Evil 5, Halo 3, and Fallout 3 sound absolutely amazing and very realistic.”
StuntGibbon: “Flower, Frontline Fuels of War, BF: Bad Company, FEAR 2, Tomb Raider: Underworld, Resident Evil 5, Undertow (especially for LFE– low-frequency effects), and Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon (again, big LFE). If you're set up for home theater, you're ideally set up for most games. I prefer Guitar Hero and Rock Band in stereo, but Metal Gear Solid 4 sounds pretty great in 7.1. Call of Duty World at War does a great job as the sound renders to the environment directly in 3-D, so if you fire a weapon, you can hear that sound bounce around the environment, off buildings, etc. Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena also has really high quality sound.”
Jappy (Xbox360; 5.1 setup) –“Fallout 3. Sound is excellent and immersive. When I play it and something makes a noise in the distance coming from the surrounds, my cat gets spooked every time thinking there's something in the house!”
Ascension (PS3; 5.1 setup) – “Guitar Hero is just simply awesome on this setup! Gears of War 1 and 2 sounds fabulous and Killzone 2 sounds very realistic. It's funny how many of my friends and family want to come over just to play games on my setup.”
cb919 – “My son and I love playing Wipeout HD in 7.1.”
Murph (PS3) –“Some of the games have much better surround effects and LFE than the majority of movies produced today. A truly amazing experience.”
Terzaghi (XBox 360, PS3; Axiom Epic 80/500 5.1 system) –“You have a serious advantage when playing on-line shooters... you can definitely hear people creeping up behind you!
