I did what you said and the loud speakers operated normally (no hum). I turned off my receiver and I could still hear the hum. ???
I don't think I am able to reverse the polarity due to the sub plug having a main ground (3 prongs).

I turned off the receiver, still humming, and then unplugged it. The humming stopped for about 3 seconds and then started back up. I unplugged all the other components which gave negative results. I unplugged the sub and plugged it into another outlet and the hum was 10x louder!!! I need help Would a power conditioner help or power strip???

Okay, then the problem isn't a ground loop, because that would also affect the other speakers, and the problem isn't reversed polarity because the three-prong plugs can only be connected with the correct polarity. If you're using a reasonably well-shielded coaxial cable to the sub, that shouldn't be picking up significant hum unless you have it right alongside a power cord(move the cable around to see if it makes any difference). Checking with Axiom might get some useful suggestions.

Is it worth the upgrade from M50s to M60s?
I dunno.....I have the M50s and couldn't be happier with them. I started with the M3s way back when, and when it was time to go with larger floorstanders in a larger room, it was a simple choice to go with the M50s.
Simple? Yeah, right....
I agonized over that one for months
In the end I went with the M50s only cause I knew exactly what the M3s sounded like and knew that I wanted something that sounded as close as reasonable to them.
Compared to the M50s; the M60s should sound a little more foreward, have a bit more midrange accuracy, be a little less forgiving of poorly recorded material, and perhaps be a little less pleasant in harsher environments.
You trade a little comfort for a little performance.

I own M60s but based on my experience with M40s and M3s I would probably be just as happy with M50s. The difference between M60 and M3 (yes, M3 not M50) is surprisingly small except for the deep bass and the difference between M50 and M60 would be even smaller...
Here are my notes from comparing M3s with other Axiom speakers. Read down to the end to get M3 vs. M60... I sure was surprised :

I have not heard 50 vs. 60 but I would expect the following differences :
1. When playing loud music with lots of bass, the midrange would retain clarity at higher volumes on the 60 because of the dedicated midrange driver.
2. The M60 would be a tiny bit more "forward" than the M50 because the off-axis upper midrange response on the M50 isn't quite as good as the M60.

Can't believe that thread came out as long ago as March!
That thread deserves to be placed squarely within the "Reviews" section of this web site for all to read at any time It does a great job of placing each Axiom speaker within the range of all Axiom speakers
Thanx for bringing it back to our attention

Hum fixed! I bought a glorified surge protector. It allowed the cable to go through the surge.
When I unplugged the cable from the cable box the hum got alot louder; however, when I ran the cable through the surge protector the hum went away!!! All is good now!

Now that is odd... but I'm glad you got it fixed.
Folks, what did we learn from this ? I'm a bit confused myself...

So the hum was a ground loop problem coming through the cable feed, and entering the sub thru the power connection. The cable tuner transfered the hum from the cable feed back into the electrical system?

Hi rebulx,
Just a couple of specific questions, so I can add your experience to my list of "ground-loop fixes".
So when you refer to the "the cable", do you mean the TV-cable feed to your outboard cable-TV tuner set-top box? And did you feed the cable-TV to the surge protector, then to the Cable-TV box?
And which cable did you unplug from the cable box when the hum got louder? I'm trying to get this straight in my mind.
