Hey guys, Im just looking at the specs on the M80's and they have an impedance of 4 ohms.

These towers will work with my Denon AVR-885 reciever correct?

Yes your Denon should do just fine.It is one of the brands that the Axiom folks recommend for the M80s.

I thought I heard someone sliding down the slippery slope, so I logged into the Axiom board and sure enough...

That's gonna be a GREAT system !!

NEW2,
I have had a similar system for a little over a month now and still sit in amazement at the clarity and the dynamic soundstage that these speakers produce.

I listened to a friend's B&W system last night and had to actually pretend to be impressed. Might have been the room dynamics, or some other yet to be identified factor i.e. cost/expectations, but they just didn't do it for me.

Have fun...

You already said in your other thread that your primary use is movies, not music, correct? The main difference between the 60's and 80's is that the 80's will drive to more insane volumes I have the Denon 2805, and have driven my 60's to volumes that make me very happy. I grew up around 70's and 80's (metal) music so I like it loud sometimes.

I guess I find the 80's may be overkill, for what your purposes are, maybe you have no bottom to your wallet

sirquack, ya its for HT use, dont listen to much music at home. i just didnt want to feel like "what if i had gone with the M80's" you know what i mean? i am a little concerned though about the 4ohms on these M80's. i have read in a few places that an AV reciever isnt the best thing to use to run 4 ohm speakers. are they talking about for sterio use or for HT use? I like watching movies loud but not so loud that i cant hear someone next to me. you think the Denon Avr-885 will be fine with the M-80's for HT use? thanks

Can't say for sure, according to Axiom and a few others, most Denon's will drive 4 ohm speakers just fine. Not sure if that is referring to every model Denon puts out, or the recent models or higher end models.

I will tell you this, I have about a 30ft x 30ft x 9ft ceilings room and my M60's, combined with the rest of my Axiom speakers will blow you out of the room if you ask them to

I'm actually more interested in investing in the EP500 or EP600 sub at some point. My EP350 does a great job when combined with the 60's bass performance, however, for the real low freq. effects, I think a second sub will help blend better.

Seriously, you do need to give this some thought. I would say if you were the type that likes it crazy loud for the whole block to enjoy, by all means get the 80's

The other day I had my 60's cranking up some Winger and Dokken, my neighbor later asked me if I got a new stereo system, since he could hear the music. It is the dead of Winter here in Iowa, and I have all the windows closed. Besides I live on 3 acres, so it is not like he was right next door. So the M60's, in my opinion will probably be more than you are hoping for.

They are awesome speakers, as are the m80's, such a tough decision...

New2...

I have the 4806 at 140w rms. I am beginning to question whether the amplification power is all that it's cracked up to be since I am hearing so many positive things about the T-amps producing such amazing results with just 10w output(?)

Sorry if my link doesn't work... I know that there are people here (link patrol) that know how to make these things work. Just how do you do that anyway?

Anyway, you will find that you just can't go wrong with these speakers with just about any reciever. Best of luck...
