I am moving into a new house, whenever they decide to get it done, was supposed to be done 2nd week in March, Somehow I don't think they are going to make that deadline.
So I just made my last order for the New Home Theater, Here is the set-up. 1600 Cubic foot Room. Kinda small I know.
Axiom QS8's Surrounds Axiom W150 Center Axiom W22i Fronts Axiom EP350 Sub
Buttkicker LFE For Lazyboy Theater Seats
Outlaw 990 Preamp/Processor Outlaw 7125 Amp Outlaw Interconnects
Beldon 5000 Cable
Denon DVD2910 Mistubishi HC3000u Projector DIY Screen.
They cannot build the house fast enough.

Very nice setup . I think that will perform very well in that size of space. Is it a dedicated room? Have you employed any special construction techniques in its build or is this a pre-design from a home builder outfit that tends to really ding you on extras?

It is a Dedicated Theater Room. I live here in Las Vegas, And it is a new home, a Three story house, And the bottom floor is becoming the theater, There really isn't too much I have to do once they are doing building it. Just tear out all the walls, and re do everything :O)

So are you going to build the room within a room type of construction or sound treat the existing walls? Resilient channel, sound clips, Green Glue, double wall, staggered stud, sand filled stage, speakers within columns, a proscenium, etc, etc, etc,?

My plan for now is to just sound treat the existing walls.

Welcome. I like your choices, but did you consider the EP500.

So assuming that the finished wall will be drywall on regular 2x4 studs (or 2x6...what stage of construciton are they in?) you can install furring strips on the existing walls and ceiling, then resilient channel and another layer of drywall or green glue another layer of drywall over the existing (this may be the better temporary option). Are the interior walls insulated with something like Roxul Safe'N Sound?

bugbitten- I did, and would of loved to have gone with it, But my budget didn't allow it. I think the ep350 in that small of a room is going to be more then enough. But maybe in the future.
BruceH- They don't let you do a single thing to the house untill you sign the final papers and walk thru and all that. But I might see If I can slip the forman a few bucks to let me do some stuff.

If you could at the very least get some sound insulation that would be the easiest low cost upgrade. Otherwise what some guys have done is to have cellulose blown in the wall cavities (do this before any finish work). I am not sure but when talking to Roxul they recommend having their insulation batts installed such that an air gap is left between the insulation and the room wall. This may have something to do with decoupling the vibrations.

I missed the small room size.
You will like the 350.
