All this beer talk made me decide to go out and get several beers for our barbecue this afternoon, granted I know nothing about beer so my choices were based on beers I've never tasted and bottles I liked  . I picked up a Chimay Premium and Grand Reserve, a Scarecrow Golden Pale Ale, an Arrogant Bastard Ale and a Stone IPA India Pale Ale. Normally I enjoy a Guinness, so this should be some fun and different tasting.
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

You're in for a few surpises and a hell of a lot more flavor than you're used to from a Guinness. The Chimay beers will be altogether different than you're used to. Don't drink them too cold and try to use a goblet-shaped glass with them. The Arrogant Bastard Ale is very strong and hoppy with a deep reddish color. The Stone IPA is also hoppy with many spicy overtones. It's got an orange hue and is very refreshing on a hot day. I've never tried Scarecrow Golden Pale Ale, but I can pretty much guarantee it'll be the tamest of the bunch.

Tom: I was going to say Gouden Carolus, but apparently now they carry the Triple, in a 12 oz bottle for $3.50, nonetheless! Hey, didn't I pay $12 for that thing at that pub?

St PatGuy, if you have not been to Hi-Time Cellars in Costa Mesa, you are in for a treat. They have EVERYTHING - and better prices, to boot. WWII era Armagnacs?!
I didn't look for the Dogfish Head last time, but I saw it there a year or two ago.

Picked up a sixer of Kulmacher Eisbock on my last trip to Hi-Time. Lo and behold it is not the beer my friend's dad had on tap 20 years ago. LOL
Still, a very fine brew. Deep and dark, full of fine malt flavors, nuts and caramel. The palate doesn't at all reflect the 9.2% abv. Not nearly so cloying as Samiclaus, much more intense than the commonly seen doppel bocks.
