Anyone else hate the Denon AVR 3805 remote? You know the one that you just slightly move and the thing glows blue. It eats batteries 10 times as fast as any other remote and with my eyes going south on me now that I'm over 40...I just hate this remote!
Is there an alternate remote that will fully operate the Denon AVR 3805??? By the way I love the Denon and I love my M 80's!!!

For clarification, yes, I do hate the 3805 remote. Maybe it was the 3806. Either way, a friend of mine has one, and it's truly bad.
Then again, my Harman/Kardon 525 remote is also terrible.

Ken,
I must rush to the defense of the admittedly annoying H/K 525 remote; it's irritating but not nearly so bad as many others I've used or reviewed. At least it has a manual backlight button you can push if you need to see the buttons in the dark, and the latter are clearly marked and readable, unlike one recent one that used a tiny typeface intended for only those with 20/20 vision. Moreover, important buttons (volume up/down) are distinguished by shape/feel.
I reviewed one remote (along with others, including an early Harmony, for a Canadian tech magazine) with a motion sensor like the Denon that would suddenly glow as I walked past it in the middle of the night on the way to the bathroom, testing my startle reflex. Ridiculous!
I liked the early Harmony's "activity-based" design, but like all things, it wasn't perfect. Still, for families, visitors, and non-techies, it was perfect.

I've got rechargeable AAA's in my Denon remote, and have only needed to recharge them once since March. I've gotten used to the remote itself.. but still considering the 880!

Agreed, the Denon remotes are a complete POS.
I'm using an 880 and it's very good. Although I do like the button layout better on the 688.
Keep an eye out on Dell.com. They run sales on the 880 every month or so. I got 3 last month for $120 per.
