Yay, I just got approval at work for time off in October and December. I actually requested two days off in the first week of December, which has been our inventory week every year, and no one's supposed to be able to take it off. I think our new boss forgot that fact, but oh, well. If she remembers as it gets closer, I'll just shrug and tell her that I wish I could help her, but I've already made arrangements. I'm going to see Metric in Portland in October, and I'm going to see Tegan and Sara w/ Northern State in Seattle in December. I saw Tegan and Sara w/ Northern State in Portland before. I'm always alternating who I make go to concerts with me. My best friend lives in the Portland area (I always forget the city), and my sister lives in the Seattle area (Bothell). I'm excited. I would have liked to see Rodrigo y Gabriela in October, too, but I think that would be pushing it. It would be better if I didn't have to travel multiple hours to see all of these acts. I still need to see Cake, Feist, CSS, Cerys Matthews, Fiona Apple, and Flight of the Conchords. I think those are the only ones remaining on my must-see list after this year.

I saw Genesis in Ottawa. Overall, a very good concert. A few gripes, first it was not loud enough, I could carry one a conversation with my buddy next to me while they were playing...
They played Montreal the night before and they looked tired. Phil always gives it is all and last night was not exception, but Tony ? Mike ? flat dead.. Tony looked like he was falling asleep on his keyboard..!..
Chester was awsome as always, and they had an extra guy for guitars / bass.
Set list was pretty good, there were about 3 songs that I did not know.. back 30 years ago !!!.. I was 10 !! My favorties where, Mama, House by the Sea, No son of mine, I can't dance, Domino and more..
Good show, but could have been better.. louder for sure, and more energy..
Glad I got to see them for the first time, in my home town.

Riker, That's funny the comment you made about a lack of energy at the Genesis concert. I was reading a review of the Montreal show and the reporter made the same comment. He said that Rush basically kicked Genesis rear ends when it came to energy. Rush was playing in Montreal on Saturday night. That's too bad as I have always been a Genesis fan.

Booked tickets to see Bright Eyes in concert for the 2nd time, coming up Nov 2 in Winnipeg. Very exciting! Great thing about him is it's never the same concert twice. Besides a constantly changing set list he is great for changing up the sound considerably.

Forgot to mention, Billy Talent the weekend before last. And no! I wasn't the oldest guy there, but I was in the running. Good show. Non-stop energy from start to finish.

Last night was ZZ Top; the final concert of the season (for shooting anyway, as I still have the Hendrix tribute to attend). On another note, I found out last night that Hughie Tomasson, founder and guitarist for the Outlaws (as well as a long-term guitarist for Lynyrd Skynyrd) died last week. I took this about six weeks ago (Tomasson on left). RIP....

Love the ZZ Topp pic. I had the pleasure of seeing them a few years back.
