That is what is exciting about being an early adopter...I think its kinda cool to be apart of the "niche" crowd with an HD DVD player...knowing that I am probably the only one on my block that has an HD DVD player makes me feel like a pioneer!

Hard to really call anyone an "early adopter" though when they are already on 3rd Generation HD-DVD players, and 2nd Generation Blu-Ray players. No, I know what you mean. Just messing with you. I just hate it when you have some "upper end" gear one day and then in order to get to the next level, you need to scrap EVERYTHING. Display, audio receiver, and media player just to fully utilize the new technology. I just can't drop $4000-$6000 right now to upgrade everything, so I figure why not get the least expensive component upgraded (media player) and just make sure that I can maximize my possibilities.

Seeing as how the HD DVD/BR market accounts for about 1% of all disc sales (DVD + HD media), I would say I am an early adopter

The A35 and the X2 do seem similar, Toshiba's specs show the A35 having 2 analog vs the X2's 5, a big difference is the X2 uses the Silicon Optix Reon HQV processing technology where the A35 doesn't. As far as pricing you can find the X2 for very close to the same price as the A35, for me the Reon processor is what brings it a step above, and at close to the same price I would go with the X2.

I’m using a Marnatz SR/8001 too. I use HDMI audio off the PS3 and Toshiba A2. What you get is LPCM off both players if you select PCM output. But as I said earlier, the PS3 will not decode DTS-M yet, so all I get is the core DTS bitstream. I bought the A2 because I could take the slow load times of the X1 and when I did buy it, the X2 would not output native 1080P/24. Now it does. -snip-
I'll have to test it out after I upgrade my FW. When I set my BDP-1400 to bitstream, I do indeed see the DTS ES light up. When I set it to PCM, I seem to be missing my LFE. I'll tinker around some more. Thanks
