Oh, yeah? I've been itching to see what I can do on my Integra DTC-9.8. It will be fun to just see the lights for the new sound formats come on. Ha ha. You've got a sweet receiver man. The DTC-9.8 is a nice receiver.

It seems like the A35 would be a good fit for him, then, right?

Jason's right. I have the 2105 with no HDMI. I distinctly remember that a receiver with HDMI at that time was $850 or $500 more than I paid. The fact is that I don't quite have to pull the trigger yet on a DVD player because mine is hanging in there albeit by a very thin thread. But when it goes, I want to be ready. And with phasers and such being offered, I may just decide to cut the thread myself .

I'm impatient. Since I'm a member of Amazon.com Prime, I only have to pay $4.99 per item to get Saturday Delivery. It would have been nice if I could have selected just Saturday Delivery for the player, and let the HD DVDs come via 2-Day, but I didn't see any options for different shipping methods on an item-by-item basis. Still, under $20 for Saturday Delivery isn't bad at all, and even though the three HD DVDs were free from the promotion, I still got the 10% off from a previous promotion (which was supposed to be discontinued a while ago, but still isn't). So I saved $6.79 that way. The only bad part of it is that Amazon.com is based in Washington, so I have to pay sales tax. Still, $404 after everything, and now I just have to wait until it gets here. I'm thinking it will be late today, as they were in Ohio as of a couple minutes ago. I may have to do the phaser thing myself. I was never a big Star Trek fan, but I think I may like to watch the old series again. I know my mom would love it.

CV, as of a couple of minutes ago, my speakers are in ohio too! they are now only 12 hours away from here, but they still show an estimated delivery date of tuesday. They were shipped from new york on 2nd day service, which means 2nd BUSINESS day, and excluding the SHIPPING day... so they were transferred at 5:00 am friday morning to dhl, but monday counts as the first day, and tuesday counts as the 2nd day... they don't count friday-sunday i guess.

Well, I got my player and HD DVDs. What would a young man (*cough*) like me play first on his new player? Why, Pride & Prejudice, of course. It has a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 soundtrack, and I hadn't seen it, so I figured I'd give it a go. It was actually better than I expected, even though I'd only heard good things. Some of the shots were very beautiful, though the basic quality of the picture wasn't the best high-definition I've seen. I'm not sure if it was intentional or just the gear they used. The sound was very good, and I can confirm that there were no issues with the player and my Integra. Did someone say Pan's Labyrinth is going to have a DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack? I preordered that a while ago. I'll be ready for it when it finally releases after Christmas. The thing I really wish is that I could set up different output resolutions on the player for normal DVDs and HD DVDs. I would like to output DVDs at 480 and let the Integra do the upconverting, just because.

Haha I just finished watching this an hour ago. It received good reviews so I wanted to check it out. Little bit awkward at first because of all the girly stuff but you get used to it. Not a bad flick but I guess it would be easier to follow if I knew anything about the 18th century. That would require reading on my part... I thought picture quality was pretty good. 4 out of 5 stars. A little bit grainy/soft in some low light shots but had lovely colors and contrast. Audio was nice too. On a few occasions I had to turn on the subtitles. Those thick British accents are difficult to understand.

Ha ha. I guess I've watched enough British stuff over the years to be okay with it, or I'm just good at ignoring what I can't make out. And yeah, my only exposure to that stuff is what I've already seen of Jane Austen film/TV adaptations. [i]Sense and Sensibility[i] is one of my all-time favorite movies, though. Gotta love Emma Thompson. Most of the time. I will have to force myself to actually read some Jane Austen sometime. I think I may be too thick to penetrate her cleverness in text form, but I guess I won't know until I try.
