ok, So I am ripping my music to flac files.
I am using autoflac in conjuction with Exact Audio Copy. Anyway I am trying to rename the artist and or album name of some of my music so that it is organized properly.
For example, I burned the dave mathews and tim reynolds two disk cd 'live at luther college.'
CD1 went under the artist' Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds', while CD2 went under the artist 'Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds'.
This is annoying because autoflac is set up to put my music into folders in this order
GENRE->ARTIST->ALBUM
So cd1 songs are stored in: rock\dave matthews and tim reynolds\Live at luther college (cd 1)
and cd 2 songs are stored in:
rock\dave matthews & tim reynolds\Live at luther college (cd 2)
It makes no sense having disk 1 and disk 2 in two completey different folders.
I tried switching the artist in windows media player but all the song names came out as weird names '01tmp34jh' or something like that. I think this is because windows media player does not support the tagging scheme that was used when I ripped with autoflac.
any suggestions? Perhaps I can rename the artist/ect. with Exact audio copy somehow.
EDIT: I just check the EAC website and it says that EAC has:
ID3 V1.1 tag editor with drag and drop ability from track listing and CD database browser
maybe this is what I am looking for. I will mess with the program some when I get a chance. If anyone has any experience with this let me know.
Thanks!

I run EAC with Autoflac as well. The reason you saw them go odd like that is that what was selected from freedb (or who ever you use). There are really some strange entries put into freedb.
Most of the base tags can be retyped in EAC before your extraction/conversion process. For instance (I preface all album titles with (year) so that they list in chronological order versus alpha order.
To modify flac tags after the fact, I use MP3tag. Freeware and it does a great job with flac files!

Thanks, I will try that software when I get home if I can't do it with EAC. I kinda thought I had selected two different versions of the same artists when running exact audio copy. I had just set up EAC and autoflac to work and didn't know exactly what I was doing

You are much welcome. I would recommend getting MP3tag. It really helps clean things up. EAC doesn;t allow for all of the flexibility that may be desired in renaming tags.

Autoflac in conjuction with EAC is sooo easy... although I have nothing to compare to.
Took a little bit to get everything set up right, but all I do now is pop in the cd, run auto flac, and it does the rest.
you pick the album title from online and it automatically generates all of the tags and places the files into the correct folder structure. EAC also creates a cue sheet with each CD that lets you burn a duplicate cd off the FLAC files. this creates an exact duplicate that keeps all the gaps between tracks/ect. It also has an error detection that lets you know if the cd skipped/ect during ripping.

yes. Autoflac must be used in conjuction with Exact audio copy. It basically just opens EAC and goes through all the normal motions to rip a cd to flac all with one click. go here: http://flac.sourceforge.net/documentation_tasks.htmldown at the section where it talks about ripping cd's to flac you will find download links and several guides that talk about ripping with EAC and Autoflac

winamp is essentially the same but allows the files to be transposed to other file types as well, which works well for me as we have 2 ipods in the house now. I went to flac.org and it has all the links etc. to run flac through WMP and links to winamp.
