Ok, so I've had the M60s since xmas, and they're awesome. A couple of weeks ago I put in an order for a center channel. Due to Wife Acceptance factors (she's concerned about my setup dominating our living room), I went with the vp100.

It sounds pretty good to me, but compared to the 60s it just looks, well, a little inadequate.

Anyone had any experience with both Axiom centers, especially when paired with the 60s? What I’m really looking for is some advice on whether the extra $150 (and the flack I'll take from the wife) is worth it for the upgrade to the vp150. I'm almost at my 30 day trial limit, so any and all advice is appreciated.

The VP150 is simply excellent.
At only 10.5 inches longer than the VP100, does it really matter in the big picture?
The answer is yes IF the wife has carefully placed plants on either side of the unit.
The answer is no if you have nothing on either side of the centre channel.

Either centre unit will be fine, but from my experience with other centre channels, i have yet to find one as broad in its dispersion as the VP150.

I've had the epic 60/500 setup for a couple of weeks and I think the 150 is the way to go. It is a lot bigger then my previous centre which was a small Energy. In my case I built a small stand, flipped the 150 over and put it on the floor directly in front of my old RP TV. The angle of top of the VP-150 (now the bottom) sets up a perfect firing line so the sound appears to come from the centre of the screen.

Lovin' it.

Besides looking small- does the vp100 fail to do the job? IF yes- then upgrade. If not, then don't worry about it

It really depends on the roomsize in my opinion. Many people use the 100 in larger rooms with great success.

I use the VP100 with M80s. It's not so much what you use it with, it's the volume you listen at and the size of the room you have.

My room is about 15'x 20', with 10' ceilings and one wall with floor to ceiling mirrors--pretty much an acoustics nightmare, I guess. Would the 150 stand up better in that kind of environment? I do like the 100, just worried that I might be missing out.

I think you could see some benfit from the VP150 in a room that size. I have both models and have directly compared them and the differences are subtle but I would recommend the 150 for a room of that size, it plays louder more easily compared to the 100. The Vp150 also plays marginaly lower in the spectrum.

I had the 100 mated with the M60s and it was fine. The audio was more than adequate.

Having said that, I KNEW the 150 was out there and available and it just bothered me every time I looked at the 100.

You really have two choices here:
1) Man up, SELL the wife and get the 150, or

2) Accept the 100, (understanding you will enjoy it) and live under that hussey's domination for the rest of your life. PLUS, there will be 2 demerits on your Man card.

Did we mention not to let your wife read these forums?
