Well, the full speaker install is done (Phase I at least - more on that later) and I have to say, I am really really happy with how it has turned out. The M80's are an amazingly versatile speaker and the VP150 has vocals that just seem to jump out of the walls at me. I have really enjoyed using the 7-channel stereo mode on my Denon 3808 as well to hear iPod stereo music turned into a fully room-enveloping experience. The installation process was interesting as the speakers arrived in 2 groups thanks to customs holding up half the shipment but allowing the first half to slip through... My first "setup" was the VP150 "floor mounted" on the VP150 box between the M80s. It still sounded fantastic, but for many reasons, I wanted to get it off the floor. I'd purchased the FMB from Axiom and planned on putting it in the ceiling, and got that much today. Here's how it started: And here's how it looks after today (the screen is scheduled to arrive next week). As you can see in the pictures, the reflectivity of the HG Cherry is amazing. You can also see the full gallery of pictures I've taken thus far here... the room continues to be a work in progress, but has come a LONG ways since we started last week. The window treatments also went up today, which finally means the ambient light problem is taken care of. Home Theater Setup Pics

You'll note that in my post above, I mentioned that "this phase" of installation is nearly complete... as it so happens, ugraditis hit me hard, and much earlier than expected when doing the initial setup, calibration, and subsequent listens. Those of you sharp readers will have looked at the "after photo" of the front wall and seen a big gaping hole under the center channel that is just begging to be filled. The question is... with what? The answer... an EP600 in High Gloss Cherry purchased on the last day of the free upgrade promotion. I have a ~5 year old Earthquake 12" sub that performs well, but not quite up to what I was expecting when paired with the rest of the Axiom speakers. I did the "crawl" and found the best place for the sub, which in my case was in the front right corner, right next to the M80. From here, it sounded good to me, the unexpected problem was that the wife said NO WAY to having that "ugly black box" sitting next to those Axioms. (Yes, she knows them by name) I told her there was only one solution I could think of... getting a new matching Axiom sub to round out the collection. Miraculously, and I do mean miraculously, she agreed with very little argument. Plus, with the promotion ending yesterday, I struck while the iron was hot! (As an aside, she made it quite clear to me that if we were getting this speaker, there was a laundry list of things for the house that she would be getting as well -> and she made true on the promise no less than 24 hours later... even so, a deal I'd take again in a heartbeat!) The 600 will undoubtedly be capable of total overkill for my room, but to me, there really is no such thing. I can't believe I'm back in the dreadful waiting game so soon after getting the rest of the system... but here I am! The best thing is that between now and then, I now have PLENTY to occupy me in the meantime.

Congratulations on the toys. It's a beautiful system you've assembled.

Pretty, pretty good! This will give you years of pleasure (once you're done with the new chores, obviously!)

Congrats. Be careful how loud you turn up the 600. It could rip your room apart .

I am actually seriously worried about it shaking my VP150 out of the ceiling once it sits right below it.
I'm a little skeptical about the integrity of that mount with just two wood screws into the stud...
Am I over-worrying about this? Any suggestions for securing the mount a bit more?

As far as I know, what you have is what Ian runs in his house (well, he has 2 VP150s) and he apparently likes it LOUD.

Thanks for the comments... the pictures don't do it justice yet (it's kind of a dim room now that the curtains are in and I don't have a great camera... hard to have a camera budget with the way this system is shaping up) As for the mount, it only allows for two screws. It came with 2" screws and I used 3" instead, and they're both straight into the stud. Sounds like I've done all I can.
