I have a small room 20x17 feet floor space and 8.5 feet high. I already have a pair of M3ti speakers. I want to add QS8 and VP150, but is it too much for my room? Should I just go with QS4, and vp100 and save some money? Your advice will be appreciated, thanks!

I'm not sure if I would consider that a "small" room. Are you going to be ordering from the factory outlet? This might help you decide which way to go. The 100 and 150 are fairly similar and depending how many listening seats you will have during movies, the 100 might be fine. The Qs8's are better overall, in my opinion, than the Qs4's. They have better bass response, and can handle more power.

I run M80s, a VP100, and QS4s in a room that size. Previously I had M50s. Bookshelves would do fine, as well, but hey, overkill is fun. The VP100 and QS4s should be fine.

I just assume its a small room, because I have my computer desk in there with pc, clothing cabinets, and a bed. Yea I'm certainly ordering from the Factory Outlet. The listening seat is just a computer chair, and a bed. vp100 or 150, I'm still undecided. Since you say Qs8 are better overall, then I have my mind set on the QS8's. I guess I should go for the VP150 just to make sure? Still have a week to change my mind.

Hey isn't the m80 an overkill for the rear and center? Just wondering. I'm planning to get QS8's for rear for certain.

Not if they're calibrated. Also having a receiver that can do different crossovers for the fronts, center, and surrounds helps a lot.

Does the Marantz SR7001 do that? Thats what I have.

I don't think so, but if you're going with bookshelves, you probably won't have to worry about it. My xovers are set to 60 Hz for the fronts (maybe 40?), 100 for the VP100, and 120 for the QS4s, mainly because I can. You'd probably be just fine with 80 or 90Hz all around.

Not overkill in my opinion and my room is 19x12x8. I cross the M80s over at 60 because sitting close it allows me to feel the punch of the bass coming from them which adds to the realism of explosions and such on screen.

Following up on the previous posts, your room isn't small at all. It's 2890 cu. ft., which is significantly larger than the average living room (2100 cu. ft.).

That said, I could make a case for your using floorstanding towers, the M60s or M80s, as the main speakers in a room that size. To answer your question, you could certainly use your existing M3s as the front speakers with a subwoofer. The only limitation would be maximum SPL (loudness) compared to floorstanders, and a little less midrange detail that is intrinsic to the M3s overall balance compared to the M80s, M60s, or M22s. The advantage of using bookshelf size speakers with the subwoofer is the ease and versatility of placement compared to floorstanding mains.

I'd definitely get QS8s for that size of room. A VP100 is fine unless you'd be sitting farther back than 12 feet from the center channel speaker. The VP150 will deliver greater SPLs at greater listening distances.
