Probably not quite what you're after but you may find cyron led lighting of interest. I have a pair of the ht902 tubes mounted to the back of each of my FMB mounted qs-8's. Works great for avoiding a pitch black room without having any real light in the room.

Thanks for the input, that might be something I'll look into down the road but I'm really looking for lighting for the entire room. It's more a den rather than a home theater so I want to achieve a bright room when not watching movies. It's making it difficult with a 7 foot ceiling.

I feel your pain. Our basement has a low ceiling. I'm kind of at a loss for what to do, too. I want indirect lighting, but being such a low ceiling, I'll have to look into a way to put the lighting on the wall around the perimeter of the room. I can't think of any other way, but I don't know if it'll work.

You guys are making me glad we took the option to raise the ceiling an extra foot in the basement when the place was built. We're at 9ft ceilings down there, unfinished, but should still be at 8 after a drop ceiling goes in.

Yes, that was a good choice.

Sure make us feel even worse . Still flummoxed and frustrated over this lighting situation. I would imagine that monorail lighting would work well on the periphery of your room.
