Not crazy. Well at least the beer sensory part of your brain isn't crazy. The Deerhoof loving region might need some shock therapy though..... I dared myself to try some pumpkin beer at the summer's Beerfest and I rather enjoyed it. I can't remember the brewer out of the multitudes I tried but it was a smoother blend with just very subtle hints of Cinnamon.
With great power comes Awesome irresponsibility.

That's alright. I know I'm crazy.
As for the pumpkin pie thing. . .my least favorite part of Thanksgiving is the pumpkin pie and yams. *shudder*

I like yams, but not the sickly sweet candied yams with marshmallows I've seen on many an American table.

What, you guys are doing "The Root Vegetable Thread" now?
Please, no Kool Whip. Real whipped cream.
Julie makes a baked, scalloped thing that has both sweet potatoes and white potatoes in it. Wicked good.
I don't enjoy spiced beers that much, but if the pumpkin beer eloquently expresses its pumpkinhood in concert with - but not overwhelmed by - the cinnamon and nutmeg, I might be okay with one glass.
Beer of the week for me so far is cask-conditioned Pike Kilt Lifter (Scottish). Be jealous.

At RFD last night with JP, I had a Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor (from a bottle, though -- I couldn't pass it up). It was deliciously hoppy and citrusy with a lively aftertaste that reminded me of a good IPA. My second (and last ) beer was a Paulaner Oktoberfest, fresh from the tap. I could easily have downed multiple glasses of that had I not been full from my chicken fritters and brat sandwich w/kraut.
