Thanks for the kinds words. It is well-earned, if I say so myself. In the past year my salary has increased three times. The first was a merit adjustment, the second was a regular cost of living increase, and the third is due to the promotion. It would have been more but my company has a policy that limits yearly increases to a max of $10k or 20%, whichever is smaller. Currently, I'm the Mac guru. In my new position, I'll become a linux guru and will have my hands into many many projects, from linux desktops to the large computing cluster to virtualized infrastructure (servers and storage). I'm joining the big leagues, so to speak.

Sounds like we're in the same general business Peter, though I sell the services to manage those systems, I don't administer them (and as such, sadly, do not sport a ponytail). Jason

And I also administer Windows, Linux, VMware ESX, Mac OS X, and Cisco.

Well, on my quest to get some Westvleteren, I lucked out and found this website that not only sells Westvleteren but also many other excellent beers. Enjoy! Now to save up some money

I went reasonably nuts at Wegmans on my way home from picking up my wife's recovered wallet this evening. Well, the real cause of the reasonable nuttiness is that I finally landed the promotion and it takes effect November 1. (Yay!) I picked up four beers today, none one of which I've had before: Gouden Carolus Cuvee Van De Keizer (2008) First, congrats! Second, I think this is the same one (different vintage, though) we had at The Trappiste in downtown Oakland. And if it is, Wegmans needs to open stores on the West Coast.

My business partner thinks I'm nuts for getting excited that there will be a Wegmans in Fredericksburg within the year.
"Getting excited about supermarkets?!" he exclaimed.
He knows not of the awesomeness of Wegmans.

Is that the only reason he thinks you're nuts?

Next time I know I'm going to that bar (January!), I'll go light on the dinner. The beer was so good but I was too full to enjoy it.
