Same here. I just look at it as the natural extension of all the war gaming and role playing I’ve done since I was a kid. Also picked up Fallout 3 but I figured I could finish Gears of War way quicker.

I think that is a pretty safe assumption.

Took a break from little big planet and Gears 2 and have been playing some fallout 3. Definitely a fun game and it will take a while to finish it up.

Purchased and played Rockband II last night for about two and a half hours until my body finally gave up. I think it's time I learned some proper drum techniques as my right wrist gets pretty sore when I step up to tougher songs on the hard level.
On the bright side I was very pleased to see that all my downloaded songs that I bought for RB 1, showed up immediately in my RB II, song list. No action required on my part. I also downloaded the additional 20 free songs and tonight I will export the original RB I songs of the old disk so they will show up as well.
Kudo's to Harmonixs for going from - "We don't know if you will be able to play your old songs" to - "We think you will be able to import most of them for a small fee" to - "Just go ahead and play all your old songs."

On another Rockband Note. I went out and excitedly bought RB II yesterday because Saturday night I sat behind a real set of drums for the first time ever. Much to my surprise, after a few exploratory bangs to get used to the 'real' positioning, I was able to tap out some basic rock beats and even throw in a few fills that actually sounded like the real thing.
I even played along to a couple of more simple AC/DC tunes. I wasn't always using the same beats they were as I didn't know the song, drumwise. But it was a lot of fun and I threw in some fills when I knew they were coming. Not the correct ones, but they seemed to work well enough to give us all a good laugh!
I know I'm not learning proper technique, and my timing would suck for anything complex but but I have to say it's pretty cool that I developed a few basic skills from playing a video game. Of course I learned to type fast from an old DOS game called "Letter Invaders" so it's not that much of a stretch, I guess.
I almost bought a real set yesterday but luckily the music stores don't open on Sunday's and I really need to focus on Christmas presents, not presents for myself. I'm always a danger to our bank account when left alone for the weekend.

I almost bought a real set yesterday You mean all this time when someone would tell me to "get a set"... BUYING a set was an option??? Seriously, that's pretty cool regarding the drum set. I drum all day... on tables, desks, my torso, anything. I've always wondered what it would be like to sit on a throne..... (Bouncin' it right back to ya'...)

As a guy who hangs out in front of the stage at rock concerts for a living, I imagine you have seen more 'sets' than we could ever imagine. Probably a lot of drums too even. You get no sympathy from me, Buddy! Notice, I narrowly managed to avoid the 'sitting on the throne' opening.

The vast, vast majority of my days are spent shooting and editing training videos... or photographing wicker baskets and antiques and stuff. It's not as exciting as it sounds on paper!

Yeah, it must suck. When your boss is working you too hard, you have nobody to complain to.
