Does anyone have any recommendations for Bluray discs that can show off the audio capabilities of the Denon?
How about games for the PS3? Are there any that use the new audio?

I think when the PS3 is sending any PCM over HDMI it must do it as 5.1 or 7.1, even if it's a CD, so the receiver can't apply its own matrixing. That's what I assume without researching. I just know that I have the same issue, so I always play CDs on my HD DVD player.

Music Bluray's Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds at Radio City Hall. OK< I actually can't remember what format it uses but you'd be hard pressed to find anything more jaw dropping as a clarity demo, regardless of the format. Movies: The new Batman - The Dark Night Has a very impressive TrueHD soundtrack.
With great power comes Awesome irresponsibility.

I would second Murph's list and add "I am Legend" as a 3rd listen. Good explosions and isolated gunfire. The rare part is the singularity of the sound source. He has the only car, so you get great imaging as it moves. He has the only gun, there is no barrage of bullets - just that one to track.

How about games for the PS3? Are there any that use the new audio? Warhawk, which you can download the demo of for free, is real good. It is "only" DD THX to my knowledge, but probably the best 3D audio environment I have experienced - especially when flying. Bullets wiz, bombs rumble, afterburner kicks in, etc., all in their place. And that place rotates around you as you move or look around. Good stuff for free!

Metal Gear Solid has 1080p video and 7.1 surround sound. Pretty amazing.
The Dave Matthews Blu-Ray is indeed an absolute must-buy. To answer the question above, it's in True-HD and sounds splendid.

Don't forget Masters and Commanders. That's pretty damn good. Hell, just the DVD alone is nice. Iron Man for LFE is pretty awesome as well. The Jericho missile scene is very very good!

Do receivers process PCM? I mean I know receivers won't touch analog in's, but what about PCM coming in via HDMI? Since the decoding is done at the player, the player must be responsible for bass/speaker management. But I don't know that I've ever seen a setup screen in the PS3. Do I have that wrong? Do receivers process PCM (through Audyssey etc.)? Hmmm

Hansang, the Denon 3808 does process PCM through Audyssey, yes. The player is not responsible for the bass & speaker management in the case of decoding in the PS3 and sending PCM to the Denon. All the magic happens in the Denon.
