When I purchased my tv at Best Buy they sold me a 6ft hdmi cable for $150 I found an article on the web comparing expensive cables to cheep ones it involved some kind of computer test
The result was the cheeper ones ( monoprices brand) were just as good as Monster cables
I can still return the cable to Best Buy
I found the monoprice on the net for $6-10 for a 4ft should I go with the monoprice
Thanks
Larry

Most definately. Read this article if you have the time, it's a few years old but just as relative today as when it was written.

Return it! I just ordered a 3',6' HDMI and a 6' mini to HDMI from Monoprive. Total price? $17US. I've been dealing with them for years, good company.

There is a grain of salt for cables such as HDMI or other protocol-intense carrier. Altough Monster's claims are rather larger than life, HDMI cables are not regular coax cables. A nice benchmark is available here. The best cables are not necessarily the pricy ones, but depending on your application, some might not work well. http://www.audioholics.com/education/cables/long-hdmi-cable-bench-tests.

No need for a $150 6ft hdmi cable, return that. Pick one up from Monoprice or Blue Jeans cable.

Larry, absolutely it should be returned. At that distance even the thinnest of the competently manufactured HDMI cables(certainly including those sold by MonoPrice)can do the job for around $5-$10.

I'll add another vote for monoprice cables. I have some and have no issues.

I'm pushing a heavy gauge flat Monoprice cable (24AWG) to the limit at 35 feet. No problems so far. I think some early cheap HDMI cables had problems, but it is hardly new technology now and even BlueJeans says that most cable works fine until you get to long runs.
Monster is just leveraging its name recognition and in-store placement agreements to charge absurd prices. Return it.
