I was at work for a while this morning and a couple of people were talking about that tracker.

Baraka HD. This movie really does justice to the format. Listening to the sound track a second time, I think it really showcases the sound system as well. All those different instruments create a really cool sound-scape and my Axioms didn't miss a beat. The various bells and percussion instruments really shine.

Stargate
It was actually my first time watching it. It wasn't a bad concept, but I thought it was pretty poorly executed. It's not the kind of moviemaking that stands the test of time.

Just watched the Blu-ray of “Hannah Montana The Movie,” yup another guilty pleasure and liked it a lot. However, if your not already a fan, I imagine most of you aren’t, then it’s not going to “wow” you.
Video quality is much better than the standard def version but not on par with the best Disney stuff. The audio quality is a little better but most of the audio action is up front. The exception is during the musical segments where all the speakers come to life including the subwoofer giving the feel of being in the venue shown on the screen. She does a mix of Hannah and Miley songs, I prefer the Hannah stuff but fans of both should be pleased.
The story is straight out of the TV show but it does have the look and feel of a big movie. Sadly the biggest difference that made for me was the inclusion of more filler. Can’t waste time in a 30 minute TV time slot but in a near 2 hour movie directors with few exceptions (Serenity comes to mind) never seem to be able to keep the things as tight.
So if you’re a Disney fan in general or a Hannah Montana fan in particular it’s worth the watch.

As I recall, Stargate was remarkably awful.
Grunt, you constantly surprise me.

Did you watch the Blu-ray of standard def. I just got a copy of the Blu-ray from Amazon today but haven’t watched it yet (to many other things from Netflix to watch). I liked the show much better than the movie. I thought the actors in the show were better suited for the parts. Michael Shanks’ performance is uncannily like James Spader’s

I watched the 15th anniversary Blu-ray. Oh, and I selected the extended cut when I watched, so maybe the theatrical cut was slightly tighter. Not that it could have been helped much.

That’s the one I got. Mostly because it’s suppose to have much better audio and video quality than the previous Blu-ray edition. I’ve noticed that a lot of extended editions and directors cuts don’t seem to add much and often seem to bog movies down with the notable exception of LOTR. Grunt, you constantly surprise me.

Just watched the Blu-ray version of “Race to Witch Mountain.” It’s a pretty average family film on the whole though I do like “The Rock’s” Disney character which was enough to make it work for me.
The video quality isn’t that great for a Blu-ray. Dark areas of many scenes are just black with almost no shadow detail at all and since much of the film is dark this becomes annoying. There is one cool special effect of a car crashing in slow motion but other than that mostly just standard stuff.
The audio is better with a good amount of ambient and directional sounds along with good LFE.
It’s been so long since I’ve seen “Escape from Witch Mountain” I can’t say how it compares but it was entertaining to watch if not memorable.

Concerning Stargate, every time I tried to catch an episode on TV, I was always underwhelmed by the acting, so I never got interested in it. I love Sci-FI, but Stargate always appeared to be crap. (Yeah I know, it's lonely being a critic of things others like).
