Alan, by any chance are there any photos of the "prototype" speakers that Ian has designed over the past years that are able to be shown?

Or perhaps all changes were simply internal changes? Surely you have tested some interesting looking speakers over the years though...

I wonder if "super tweeters" have ever been tested.

There were some prototype speakers in the plant when I visited last year but Miss Debbie threatened me with bodily harm if I gave any details.

I seem to remember something being leaked out about a line array speaker awhile ago.

Hi David,
No, no photos. There are various enclosures of different sizes and shapes stacked up in the boardroom, which is next to the listening room, so they can be shuffled into the latter for the blind testing.
Some of the listening tests involve different tweeter designs or crossover tweaks on existing models. In the past, I've documented some crossover adjustments on the M22 that caused slight shifts in the spectral balance, but the production M22 still won the listening tests, so the change was not incorporated into M22 production.
As cool as it might be, we don't publish photos of prototypes because they may never reach production and such photos might inhibit prospective customers from purchasing exisiting models, which as all Axiomites know, are very, very good.

Ever try ribbon tweaters in any of these prototypes Alan? I have never heard a speaker with them, but they sure look cool.

Mike, my understanding is that ribbons are much more expensive and that they don't have the same off-axis dispersion qualities as domes, particularly vertically.
