Tried stopping at the nearest Blockbuster to rent a the “Lord of the Rings” BDs today but it’s closing. Didn’t feel like drive the extra mile to go to the next closest one.
The other thing I’m not going to be watching any more is DirectTV. Called to cancel it today. In the year since I moved in I’ve watched about 20 hours of TV in total and 9 of that has been “Caprica.” At $33.00/hour I don’t think it’s been worth it. Theirs just to many less expensive and often better ways of watching TV.

I hope you've subscribed long enough so that you do not have to pay to get out of your tenure with them.
I've come to realize that DirecTV is a first and very tight cousin to the devil himself.

No unfortunately it was a two year deal with $20/month off for the first year. The buyout is $240 but the cost for another full year would be $900 so I’m still saving $660. Basically I’m paying back the $20/month I saved off the regular rate I would have had to pay w/o the 2 year contract so not really a big deal to me since I can certainly put the savings to better use for something else.
I wouldn’t have even messed with it if I had realized how much more I was going to listen to music, watch DVDs and play games since I moved into the house. In the apartment I always had the TV on while surfing the internet or otherwise putzing around so I actually used it a lot. But now music has completely replaced the TV for “background noise.”
I agree DirectTV is one of the worst companies I’ve ever dealt with. I actually had them bundled with my phone provider so when I called to cancel I told them it was because of the crappy service not that I wasn’t really using it. Not sure if that matters but sometimes if enough people complain. . . .

Ok, so it's not tonight, but I saw Fantastic Mr. Fox last week with my family and we all loved it. I finally got my friend to come over to watch my copy with me. We both really liked it. Wes Anderson obviously put tons of thought into how to shoot that movie. Very creatively put-together, and the story worked for me, too. But yeah, it looked really great on Blu-ray. Just really fun to look at everything. I liked the sound, too, though we weren't listening at reference volumes. I'll have to give it another watch with the knob turned higher. Maybe tomorrow!

Sean brought over the Blu-ray of “Dark Knight” which we watched. I could just write a one word review, “Spectacular!” or link to Blu-ray.com’s review as they say exactly what I would have written about the audio and video. The Dark Knight Blu-ray In summary one of the best video presentations I’ve seen. I expected the switching between the 2.40:1 and 1.78:1 aspect ratios would really annoy me but the only time it did is when it switched back from 1.78:1 to the 2.40:1. But it was worth it for the scenes that filled up the whole screen. I wish they would just stop making 2.33:1+ movies already. The audio especially the LFE was great about the only thing surprising was that the surround sound was anemic enough that at first I started checking to see if my surrounds were even working, but once I got use to it their relative absence wasn’t noticeable. Thanks Sean, great movie experience.

I'm jealous that you guys get to hang out. I feel like I should be part of the group, at least in the background while you guys do the real cool stuff.
