OK, this is a 'who will you see' post.
I was looking through the list of performers when David “Honeyboy” Edwards caught my eye.
The first line of the bio reads: ...was born June 28, 1915...
Rock on dude!

Scorpions/Cinderella July 5th in Pittsburgh. Both did a good job but I really enjoyed the Scorpions.

Were you literally rocked like a hurricane?
'Cuz I think there's an implied level of "rockiness" if you see the Scorpions....

A few months ago I went out to see a local group, "Classic Albums Live", perform Dark Side Of The Moon. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I really enjoyed it. I think there were 10 or 11 musicians onstage - most of the albums they cover only need 5 or 6. The group recruited a local folk singer for the vocals on Great Gig in the Sky, and all I can say is that she was incredible. Great Gig in the Sky has always been a weak point for bands performing DSOTM, even Pink Floyd themselves, but the vocals this time were as good as or even better than Claire Torry's on the original album. I never thought I would say that. The standing ovation at the end of the song went on for so long the band seemed unsure whether to start playing again or let the applause keep going. Anyways, it was good

If that is, as I suspect, the same group of performers as the "Classic Albums Live" folk that run through here every now and then, they are INCREDIBLE. Their goal of simply mimicking an album 'note for note' is always so perfectly achieved it just amazes me. No fancy light show or gimmicks, just musicianship at it's finest.
With great power comes Awesome irresponsibility.

Sir Paul McCartney in Salt Lake City, Utah 7/13/2010 It was his first ever visit to Utah and he put on one fantastic show. He told stories of Ringo, George, and John, as well as Hendrix and Clapton. He ended a song with an instrumental 'Foxy Lady' jam. For a guy that is 68 he looked, acted, and sounded excellent. I'd say he acted 20 years or more younger while running and jumping around the stage. It certainly was a very high energy performance. I was very surprised when they broke into playing 'Helter Skelter'. He played and sang with boundless energy for over 2 and 1/2 hours. Just look at the 37+ songs in the setlist (bottom of post). There were no breaks for the main set. He played right through. And the only break he took between encores was no longer than 1 minute each! He just kept on going. It was a fantastic show, and well worth the price of admission. Go to any of his shows if you have the chance, even if it is the cheap seats. The setlist: 1. Venus and Mars / Rock Show (excerpt) 2. Jet 3. All My loving 4. Letting Go 5. Drive My Car 6. Highway 7. Let Me Roll It / Foxy Lady (instrumental excerpt) 8. Long And Winding Road 9. Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five 10. Let 'em In 11. My Love 12. I've Just Seen A Face 13. And I Love Her 14. Blackbird 15. Here Today 16. Dance Tonight 17. Mrs. Vandebilt 18. Eleanor Rigby 19. Ram On 20. Something 21. Letting Go 22. Sing The Changes 23. Band On The Run 24. Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da 25. Back In The USSR 26. I've Got A Feeling 27. Paperback Writer 28. A Day In the Life / Give Peace A Chance 29. Let It Be 30. Live & Let Die (pyrotechnics) 31. Hey Jude Encore: 32. Day Tripper 33. Lady Madonna 34. Get Back Encore 2: 35. Yesterday 36. Helter Skelter 37. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise) / The End

Went and saw Neil Young solo last night at the NAJA. Great show and he played a mixture of new and old tunes. He played for "only" an hour and a half but I would have liked to have listened to him for another hour more The guy still has "it" I wish the group of guys behind me would have stopped singing along with him. I did pay money to listen to him not hear them!

Haven't seen Neil for many years. Last time I saw him, he played for well over 3 hours so he's definately cut back a lot. Always great to see him play the "old" stuff.
Half of communication is listening. You can't listen with your mouth.
