MCACC is not as good by any reviews I have seen. It also still has the same problems , for some it works, others not so much.

I have had some really good luck with MCACC on my 6 year old Pioneer Elite receiver, but its got some additional bells and whistles that some of the more basic models didn't have back then.

I have sense turned off most of the MCACC pieces and have tuned things the way that I like them. That seems to be what a lot of the Audyssey do (at least from what I've read). It is more of a quick fix, and then when people get their SPL meter out, they tune things properly after shutting it off.

Then again, there are a LOT of Pioneer haters out there and since MCACC is a Pioneer only feature, they must hate it too.

I've had great luck with all of my Pioneer gear that I've owned over the years, but when I do V4.0 of my theater, I will be ready for a new receiver again and will look hard at other brands. Who knows what I'll end up with.

I was browsing for a good cheap HT projector and I happened to stumble upon this one. It can't compete with the better ones in the over $2000 price range, but for under $400, it looks like it might be a good one.

Edit: Never mind, I just noticed the resolution was only 800x600. Back to the search engine.

Speaking of Pioneer and MCACC, I use that and I don't have any gripes with it, but then again I don't have any experience with Audyssey.

Thanks for the replies. I ordered the VSX-1120-K for $499. This is my first receiver. I will be running just two speakers (with external power amp) for some time and the Pioneer will do the job while I research pre/pros for my future surround setup.

I do need the video processing part of the receiver now (5 sources), and the Pioneer looks promising for that.

Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 are on sale on Steam now. Only the second is available for Mac, right now. I just bought it. Will not be playing with the kids around...

Yeah, I definitely would have picked up some of those Blu-rays if I didn't already own them.
