I current have an EP500 sub and enjoy the bass from it...I have 12" inch Alpine sub that I pulled out of my vehicle that is no longer in use, I am wondering if it possible to add a piece like this to my setup?

Not likely. There are a few car sub of high enough quality to work in HT, like some of the JL offerings, but I expect the alpine sub is not in that category.

You would be better off spending a little on a driver built for HT.

It would be a fun project to at least build up an enclosure and get an amp and see what you think. Check out the DIY forum on Home Theater Shack, there is some very good info on DIY subs there.

Alpine's Type R subwoofers are very highly regarded for their price to performance ratio, Randy. Their decks however, aren't what they used to be IMO.

Edit-so are there new amps. It's pretty ridiculous, but I still have mine, along with my speakers, sitting in the front room (six months now).

Part of the reason is that I was quoted $250 to install everything.

Thanks, Rick, you're a good soul. I'd probably spend $250 just getting to you LOL.
