Last Thursday Sean came over and we watched the new “Robin Hood” Blu-ray. Rather than write my own review of the video and audio quality Blu-ray.com sums up my thoughts: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Robin-Hood-Blu-ray/12967/#OverviewAs for the movie I have to go against the critics and say I liked it. Despite watching the 2:35 long directors cut the movie seemed to move along very quickly. I liked the re-imagining of the story which helped keep things interesting since it’s not like I haven’t seen it before.

I agree with Dean. I had heard and read middling reviews about the movie, but I found it enjoyable and it didn't seem long at all.
I guess the tale of Robin Hood is so iconic and the characters so familiar that it is somewhat hard to either take the movie seriously or accept the characters following a plot different from what we expect.

I just finished watching “Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE” a 52 episode Anime. This review pretty much sums it up. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/tsubasa-reservoir-chronicle/dvd-1The format is 1.78:1 and the English dub is in 5.1 but not the original Japanese. Overall I liked the story and the characters but as the reviewer above says it’s “Gastropod slow.” something worth noting is the reviewer also thinks that the English dub actually improves the story over the original Japanese. This is not something you are going to watch in one day, or likely even one weekend but I enjoyed it and would rate it a 3.5/5.

Watched Toy Story 3 and Inception over the weekend.
TS3 is amazing and beautiful. One can't imagine the CGI geting "better," but it does. The texture mapping is beyond belief. So many inconsistentsies are gone. Who cares about the story, the sountrack, et al. It's for staring at w/ your mouth open.
Inception has everything I had hoped for. Great visuals, top rate cinematography (some awesome night scenes), plenty o' special effects and a superior soundtrack. It's pretty loud throughout, which only makes the bombs, explosions and gunfire (ton's of gunfire, multiple weapons/mult. angles simultaneously) more startling.
Storyline is confusing on first watch, as most of the action takes place in peoples' dreams and on muptiple levels of dreams. You'll figure it out on subsequent viewings. And I DO think you will have at least a couple.
Always call the place you live a house. When you're old, everyone else will call it a home.

I just finished watching “Sakura Wars TV” a 25 episode mecha anime. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/sakura-wars/dvd-complete-collection-thinpakhttp://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=351Maybe I’ve watched enough anime now that “I think I’m turning Japanese” because I didn’t mind the “Japanese-ness” of this show as much as both the above reviewers seemed to. Screen ratio is only 1.33:1 but it does have 5.1 sort of. Mostly just ambient sounds as all the directional stuff is up front. The animation looks a bit dated, late 90s style which seemed very retro when I first started watching it after so many more recent titles but I quickly got use to it and stopped noticing. Though the flow of the story and the characters are common for mecha anime the basis for the characters I interesting. Rather then being junior high students or a bunch of angst filled loners the pilot’s cover is to perform as a theatrical company. Makes for some interesting twists with what would otherwise be fairly typical characters and interactions. I liked this enough to breeze through it in one day so I’d give it a 4/5.
