If not to keep you out and the apple service guys profitable, what is the motive for commissioning a proprietary screw? You have answered your question.

(if you look at it in the very, very best possible light) Is that realistic? 99% of the time companies do stuff like this, it is to protect profit.

Most of the reason I posted this is that I thought it was very funny that it was a proprietary screw because it is so very symbolic, particularly if you put an i in front.

Which could also be the motive in reducing service on ineligible devices.

Most of the reason I posted this is that I thought it was very funny that it was a proprietary screw because it is so very symbolic, particularly if you put an i in front. Its typical of anything Apple. No surprises here. However, it is not the first proprietary screw, but its function is crap.

I would think a small Torx bit would work on those, depending on how tight they are.
