I put off watching the season premier of Justified, because I had doubt about how this season would go after an excellent freshman effort. Turns out there was no justification for the worry. Looks like this will be another good one.
Charles, check it out after you're done Deadwood. That is, if you wanting more of the Seth Bullock character. I like to imagine that Raylan Givens in Justified is a descendant.

It must be the time of year to watch western stuff. A friend came over and chose to watch Unforgiven.

I'm with you, Chris. But I had more confidence, since Elmore Leonard is still Executive Producer. Justified is solid TV.

Getting back into my BSG box set. This is the first time I've heard the taiko (drum) score with my M22s. They definitely present more punch than my old Sony floor standers.
Actually, I'm so impressed with how how these drums sound on my system that I'm thinking about seeking out some taiko performances.

Heh. I watched most of BSG on my laptop with headphones (from the DVD, but still). I recently watched part of "The Plan" (the BSG movie from the Cylon perspective), and was floored at how much bass my speakers/sub were putting out. Incredible that a pistol would have that much bass...

I watched Buried. The girl with me went home angry, saying she was going to have nightmares, and was generally pissed about the movie. I liked it.
Highdef digest says, "The majority of the picture is consumed by blackness, and for the most part it remains richly deep and inky. Occasionally the darkened areas can be so vast and overpowering that the swells give off more of a dark brownish appearance. Shadow delineation is affected somewhat and there is a bit of crushing in the presentation." They lie. The black levels are clipped at about 5% gray. We watched the first 30 minutes of the movie before I had enough and set the Brightness level on my TV to -4. That made the blackness black instead of a gray that obviously brighter than the Scope letterbox bars.

I finally got around to watching Terminator 2 on blu-ray. This is one aggravating BD. I don't have an internet connection on my BD player. Something on this disk is trying to connect to the internet and takes it's sweet time in doing so. Then pops up with a retry or cancel message. I cancel of course, then if you don't hit play and try to move the cursor to a different setup category, it tries to re-connect to the internet all over again.
Has anyone else experienced this problem with this movie?

Which version do you have? The Skynet Edition? That one has a worse picture than the original release (which didn't have the best picture either). You can still find new copies of the original for under $10.

I didn't realize there were different BD releases. Yes I have the Skynet Edition then. I guess I should chuck this and look for the other one. I gave $10 for it at Target last week.
I picked up The 5th Element BD yesterday at walmart. I looked at the Star Trek 6 movie boxed set and was thinking about getting that for $90. Maybe in a couple of weeks. I read that they may release a better re-mastered set sometime later.
