We used to have extravagant Semi Annual State of the Business meetings. We had our meeting at the local coliseum and we had the drumline live. It was awe inspiring.

I was gonna be more specific. I kinda think albums would be another thread. Such a list may or may not include the killer songs, but may trump on concept, consistency, etc.
In this case, you needn't even know who the artist was, whether new or long gone. You didn't care. You just had to run out and find more of this stuff.
Song is the cause, album is the effect.

Until you got to the end, your list was rather surprising and unpredicatable.

A band that has had more impact on my life than any other, is Rage Against The Machine; they literally paved the path for my expanded consciousness, philosophical and overall life transformation. I wouldn't be who I have evolved to be if it wasn't for my accident, because otherwise I wouldn't have devoted the time to research their lyrics and the meaning, which is why I've said in the past I wouldn't change anything. After coming home from the rehab hospital, I started listening to their music, and reading their lyrics online, for the duration of the day, to the point that it drove my parents nuts . The lyrics to every song are ingrained in my head, along with, most importantly, the meaning. From listening to them, I started reading Chomsky, then Bakunin, John Stuart Mill etc. etc. Sure, there's many other artists that have had an impact on my life, but none come close to Rage Against The Machine. Ultimately, we're all in control of the changes that we make, but there's usually a precursor, and that band is it for me. My response isn't quite in line with the rest of yours, but that's a common theme with me . I'll follow suit and compose a list of songs that are also "game changers", when I have more time. Peace and love, guys!

"Don't Let's Start" - They Might Be Giants.
Opened up not only a whole new band for me (They've put out over a dozen albums in the last 25 years), but a whole new genre of music. Aside from the Beatles, TMBG was the other band that influenced me to learn to play guitar, so I could play their songs.

Peace and love, guys! Just leave hair gel off your list, please. Unless it's some sort of Canadian song I'm unaware of. Your feelings are exactly what I'm on about. Bang on, even! Just want you recall the song of theirs that first grabbed your windpipe and dragged you further in.

"Don't Let's Start" - They Might Be Giants. Nice! I thought about them as one of my favorites, but didn't have an "AHA!" moment with any of their songs. I sure do like them, though. Now, my son gets to like them, too, with their ABCs and 123s releases.
Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica.

Just want you recall the song of theirs that first grabbed your windpipe and dragged you further in. Take the Power Back . Lyrics (hide your kiddies )- Bring that shit in! Uggh!
Yeah, the movement's in motion with mass militant poetry Now check this out...uggh!
In the right light, study becomes insight But the system that dissed us Teaches us to read and right
So called facts are fraud They want us to allege and pledge And bow down to their God Lost the culture, the culture lost Spun our minds and through time Ignorance has taken over Yo, we gotta take the power back! Bam! Here's the plan Motherfuck Uncle Sam Step back, I know who I am Raise up your ear, I'll drop the style and clear It's the beats and the lyrics they fear The rage is relentless We need a movement with a quickness You are the witness of change And to counteract We gotta take the power back
Yeah, we gotta take the power back Come on, come on! We gotta take the power back
The present curriculum I put my fist in 'em Eurocentric every last one of 'em See right through the red, white and blue disguise With lecture I puncture the structure of lies Installed in our minds and attempting To hold us back We've got to take it back Holes in our spirit causin' tears and fears One-sided stories for years and years and years I'm inferior? Who's inferior? Yeah, we need to check the interior Of the system that cares about only one culture And that is why We gotta take the power back
Yeah, we gotta take the power back Come on, come on! We gotta take the power back
Hey yo check, we're gonna have to break it, break it, break it down Awww shit!
Uggh!
And like this...uggh!
Come on, yeah! Bring it back the other way!
The teacher stands in front of the class But the lesson plan he can't recall The student's eyes don't perceive the lies Bouning off every fucking wall His composure is well kept I guess he fears playing the fool The complacent students sit and listen to some of that Bullshit that he learned in school
Europe ain't my rope to swing on Can't learn a thing from it Yet we hang from it Gotta get it, gotta get it together then Like the motherfuckin' weathermen To expose and close the doors on those who try To strangle and mangle the truth 'Cause the circle of hatred continues unless we react We gotta take the power back
Yeah, we gotta take the power back Come on, come on! We gotta take the power back
No more lies X8
Uggh!
Yeah!
Take it back y'all Take it back, a-take it back A-take it back y'all, come on! Take it back y'all Take it back, a-take it back A-take it back y'all, come on!
Uggh!
Yeah! That sums 'er up .
