Saturday was my beeriest day in a really long time. A couple homebrewer buddies hosted a beer BBQ. It was mostly people from work with their significant others, and a few kids, including my own. There was a smoker on the premises and plenty of pork ribs and jumbo chicken wings for all. Not to mention jambalaya, spaghetti pie, pecan pie, and my many sides.

On to the beer! Two kegs of homebrew -- one a pilsner, one a 12.5% Belgian tripel -- many bottles of homebrew -- my own brown ale, ginger beer, oak-aged imperial stout, oyster stout, and more -- not to mention all the commercial beer people brought. Then there was the Jaegermeister and some kind of high-proof Hungarian apricot schnapps that was actually quite smooth...

I also partook of a very nice Dutch cigar -- I did make sure it was only filled with completely legal leaves. wink I was feeling fine all day. Even felt fine on the drive home -- I was a passenger. Only a few hours after I got home did the full weight of all I had enjoyed come home to roost...

I'll spare you the rest of this story.

I'm betting I beat you or for this Saturday. I went on a small road-trip for my brothers Stag Party.

It started with an early afternoon, tall ship cruise with a cash bar and we drank the boat dry. They said it had happened before but not ever so quickly.

On to a pub with a big outdoor deck on the waterfront for dinner and their on-tap selections and then on to a house party with coolers prestocked with beers (and PEI moonshine.) Eventually a taxi to a quick hold-over in a bar to see a friends band play and then off to an outdoor street dance back on the waterfront. Finally, when the dance shut down we moved onto one of the late night bar appropriately named "The Alehouse".

Halifax is such a fun city!! In the summer anyway.

Deschutes' Hop in the Dark CDA (Cascadian Dark Ale -- think porter+IPA) is very good. It's my wife's new favorite beer.

She even told me I should buy my next homebrew ingredients so I can brew again.

I bought a couple of these to have tonight. You know? It isn't half bad. I never had a chocolate beer before.
