Ken, my friend, Tom, is the same way. You both despise laugh tracks, yet you both like Red Dwarf. Weirdos.

That was the one show I could think of off the top of my head where that applied.
I am the Doctor, and THIS... is my SPOON!

See, and they're both British, just like Coupling.

Drive
Pretty well-done. Like Haywire, the soundtrack choices were a bit different, giving it a similar strange feel. The picture was pristine, shot really well. The storyline was simple enough. It's one of those movies that might be more about the filmmaking than telling the best story possible, but I still enjoyed it for what it was. There were some pretty sudden moments of extreme violence, so be prepared for those. This type of suddenness also occurred in the audio. Great audio. Pretty restrained most of the time, and then boom, you're overwhelmed. I like when movies can do this well. It reminds me of dynamic range in classical versus pop music. Something like Transformers would be akin to the pop in the comparison.
I thought there'd be more driving.

I've been looking forward to seeing that movie.

Adaptation
I love this movie a lot. It's been a while since I've seen it. The Blu-ray finally came out, so it was time to revisit it. I'm as impressed with the screenplay as I ever was. Charlie Kaufman has such a vivid imagination, and I appreciate that he isn't content to let that be enough. The story is grounded in real human passion and a fair helping of gritty detail. It's quite the balancing act when you consider the ridiculousness of the concept. If you've never taken the time to check it out, you should.

I already watched Drive again. The sound is still impressive. Definitely some good showcase scenes.

The Notebook
I know, I know.
I hadn't seen it before because I was pretty sure I was going to hate it. One of my online friends wanted to me to watch it, so I finally got around to it. I actually didn't hate it as much as I thought I would, though parts of it did bug me. Guilty of being a little too convenient, a little too obvious at times. But some of the stuff was done pretty well, too, so at least now I understand the appeal, even if I don't consider it one of the classic love stories.

Metropolis (the complete version).
I bought this at the nearby Best Buy store that's having a going out of business sale. I didn't know anything about this movie when I bought it, other than it's a 1927 German Sci-Fi film.
I watched it last night. What I didn't know until I watched it, is it's a silent movie, although I don't think silent is the proper word for it. They redid all the music, so it was first class sounding. I don't remember watching any silent films in the past, so this was like a first time experience for me. It's odd how their lips are moving during conversations, but they rely upon expressions and gestures to get the message across. There was a little conversation printed on the screen that was redone in english.
