And, hopefully, he can escape this jinx. You're NOT supposed to talk about it. We haven't for days and now things are OK. Just ignore them and they'll do great!

Keeping with the baseball theme, I would like to get to at least 3rd base with 7 of 9.

Maybe after you round third, you'll be able to slide into home.

I usually wake up before that.

JP, BobKay, Mark, and other dear friends, I would not be able to live with myself if I did not properly observe yesterday's events. From an unlikely source The Christian Science Monitor...a one month stretch of baseball so shockingly awful that it will become a new sports shorthand for failure bordering on the inconceivable. And Evan Longoria becomes this generation's Bobby Thomson. The drama was fantastic, and I feel like order has been restored to the universe. And the Mariners failed - by five! - to lose 100 games. I love baseball.

Yeah, that sucked. Double facepalm - one each for the Red Sox and Braves: I guess now I can turn my attention away from those underperforming millionaires to the underperforming undergraduates at my alma mater. Go Irish!

I like what the Mariners are doing with their starting rotation. Michael Pineda is a beast! Great young talent. He would be up there with the best "stuff" I watched all year.

Yes, Pineda is a very promising young man. And Felix is only 25. They got some depth when they traded Fister (which was hard) and Bedard (which was not). It's been a long time since the franchise has had ANY legitimately promising young talent, so the losses didn't hurt quite so much this year.

The League/Morrow deal looks like it is working out for you too. League was nasty when we were playing them. Morrow has been hit and miss. When he lacks fastball control he gets beat up pretty bad. Morrow is a strikeout pitcher, and his pitch count is usually through the roof by 7 innings. The Mariners scouts wanted him in the bullpen and not as a starter. I could totally see why that is now.
