You can't mount it on THE WALL yet. You have to catch the red dot first.

I've been trying to catch it, but it just keeps escaping me.

Looking for a good wall mount that will span 3 studs with 18 inch centers, and fit a 65 inch TV (most say 63 inch) and can pull away from the wall to make fishing wires behind it an easy job. Needs to easily hold 130 lbs, so should be rated for higher.

Monoprice seems to have some good choices, but they say 63 inch max, not 65.

It seems like all of these mounts are made to mount between 2 studs, (or the occasional 1 stud mount). The problem with mounting between 2 studs is my rather narrow wall has a stud right in the middle of it (off by about 1 inch). I need a mount that can mount across 3 studs.

You could go to a local steel yard, and get some 1/4" plate steel to span the 3 studs, then mount any flat panel mount you want, bolt it to the plate steel, then anchor the plate steel to the 3 studs that you want.

That's a thought. But I'm not sure how I would apply the nuts to the back of the bolts. The steel plate would be on the wall. I'll have to think about that one.

Most steel yards have welders on site, you could take the plate steel home, mark it up and drill the holes for either bolts, or all thread, then take it back to get the threaded item welded to the plate. If you use a bolt, then the bolt head can help support the load.

The steel yard i go to have professional welders on site, they have to weld regularly to maintain their proficiency, so you might get lucky and get the welding done for free or a very minimal charge.

According to the people at BB, I would buy a wall mount that spans 2 studs, then mount the TV so that it's offset with this and centered with the wall.

I know that sounds reasonable, but I'd prefer something straight on and not mounted 18 inches to the left of center.

I'd feel more comfortable just ripping out the backside of the wall in the closet and installing more wood, than I would messing around with steel plates. There may be somewhere in Kansas City that will do that, but I don't know of anywhere.
