I'm sorry. I'm not supposed to read anything about Quebec that isn't in French. But it IS gonna be real sad watching all those guys intentionally walk into the Bay of Fundi.

Always call the place you live a house. When you're old, everyone else will call it a home.

Not all of you are on the facebook, so I figured I'd post it here, as well. Feast your eyes upon this beauty: This is my latest homebrew: a dark mild ale with low alcohol and tame hops to help the malts shine through. It smells a bit like dark crystallized honey and has a lot of malty nuances in the flavor. It'll be ready for sharing in the near future. (ahem) This, my 10th batch of homebrew, is likely the last beer I will brew in this house before I move. All 10 batches were made here. For those not in the loop, I'm in the final stretch of a short-sale on my home that I stared in the beginning of May. Oh, and I still don't know where I'll be living next.

That looks and sounds like quite a brew, Peter.
And, congratulations on almost completing the short-sale!

I get to go to a private bottling party tonight. Mississippi's lone brewer, Lazy Magnolia, is wasting no time taking advantage of two new (to MS) laws that take effect at midnight; brewing of beer higher than 5% ABW, and the ability to sample beers on site. The irony is that they have been producing contract beers for other labels over 5% for direct export to other states (legally, of course)[See correction below] but this brew is staying in state on their label. In honor of the legislator advocate who carried the law thru the legislature, they have a Rye IPA ready to bottle tonight called Timber Beast. I'll have more info on the name and alcohol content when I get back. The other law, sampling wares on site, they have been ridiculously good about adhering to. Now folks taking a tour of the brewery will be able to sample the products! This was mostly a teaser for Tom, who could use a little universe unbalancing Apparently I mis-interpreted what Leslie told me - The new law would allow them to produce higher alcohol beers for other states where it is already legal. They were previously tied to the MS law of 5%. Here's a nice News report from WLOX Timber Beast has bumped Sierra Nevada Pale Ale of it's pedestal, for me at least.

Extremely jealous/envious Tom!!
Currently have some of the Bear Republic Racer 5 in the fridge now. Very balanced and smooth for an IPA. Very drinkable.

Your palate will be shot. I had a Sculpin IPA with my yummy pizza dinner tonight. It was delicious.

The number was 24. My winner was the American Brewing Breakaway (on nitrogen, btw). Really great day connecting with friends.
