Now it's going to be tomorrow before I get my car out of the repair shop. Needs a new alternator. Bearings are shot. The car I want to get rid of is going to cost me about $1400 in repair. Then it'll still have a bad head gasket that's leaking oil. Also had a leaking transmission line that had to be replaced.

Here it is almost superbowl time and still no car to drive. At least I've got a new friend who's willing to give me a ride when it's ready. He said it would be done today. The man does good work, takes his time and does a job right. I'm so thankful that he doesn't charge by the hour. It's been 4 days now.

I've been toying about maybe a used Hummer H3 as a muddier car for winter driving. Anybody have experience or advice with one of these. . Costs of used ones seem fairly reasonable.

Car in shop since Wed evening. Bill for almost $1400, paid half, picked up car, then before I get it home, a transmission line springs another leak and I had it towed back to the shop. Sheesh. Now without money and a car.

If you bought an H3, you'd be one of *those* guys.
You know what I'm talking about.

I've probably been one of "those" guys all my life and just didn't realize it until now. That reminds me. In high school, I was a scrawny little twerp, and near the first of the school year, I was talking to a good looking female class mate, when one of the bullies turned around and said to her, "Don't talk to him. He's one of 'Those Guys'". She never talked to me again....

Seems as tho that mechanic loves repeat customers. I think you better hurry on that new car. If you want some big service bills, get the Hummer.

He warned me about. The cable was frayed, so he cut off the lose ends, now the non lose ends get stuck in the cable housing. Said he'd get one out of a junk yard and replace it. I may have to remind him.
