Your mother probably insisted on 'trainer beer' when you were young. You know, like Coor's Light.

A nice quiet post snow storm sunny winter afternoon continuing to experiment with local 'winter' brews. The dog is drying off and sleeping in his bed after romping in the snow, the kids are playing nice in the basement and my wife is out shopping with her mom. A perfect opportunity to enjoy this Old North mocha porter. And it is quite tasty. grin (BTW, this brewery should be fairly close to Axiom HQ)

Well, another weekend is upon us and more local winter experimentation continues. Up for inspection later tonight is Bog Water, brewed with bog myrtle instead of hops!

http://www.beaus.ca/beer/seasonal/bog_water

The web page is actually a pretty interesting read for beer lovers (why else would you be reading this?)

A revived 1500's brewing technique, gruit style (what the heck is that anyway?), and food pairing recommendation of banana split!?! Friday night, here I come! crazy

Edit:
Since I asked the question I had to look up gruit brewing.

I am now informed .... and afraid of brewers droop. Though that in itself has a music reference to a band Mark Knopfler played in. Wow you can kill time with Google!

I recognized this right away. Little did I know when listening to this as a high schooler in the 1980s that he was prophesizing my future:

He wrote me a prescription he said "You are depressed.
But I'm glad you came to see me to get this off your chest.
Come back and see me later - next patient please!
Send in another victim of Industrial Disease"

Well, except for the diagnosis, I guess. Otherwise, spot on.

Tonight I go to the Capital Ale House with church friends. Watch out!

Here's a two month-old copy of their bottled beer menu. I expect to go bottled only if there's not enough draft options, which isn't likely with the 60 options on draft.

Peter and Ken, come on down anytime.

I want to go to your church. My church friends don't think one should drink alcoholic beverages.

Have fun, JP!

I went to the Pike Brewery for beer and food prior to the Yes concert last Sunday. Had their XXXXX Stout and a dry-hopped double IPA. Both were absolutely fantastic. I don't love their Pale Ale or Kilt Lifter, but those two were among the best of their type.
