Want fewer gun deaths? get rid of as many guns as possible. The statistics back this up time and time again.

Switzerland requires all its citizens to spend time in the military. They have lots of guns and a high rate of gun deaths. England has very few guns and very few gun deaths per capita. The Economist has published a list of countries, guns per capita and gun deaths per capita. Its easy to look this up for yourself.

There are exceptions to the rule, but I don't think anybody here would consider Somalia a normal place or one to measure ourselves against.

I don't doubt this in any way. I'm not sure, however, that singling out specific statistics tells the whole story. There are always trade-offs.

There's only one way to solve this for now. Pick out the best looking and healthiest man and woman. Call Captain Kirk and get him to send the Genesis machine to Earth. Then put the Adam/Eve pair back on the rebuilt Earth.

Or... Populate a big unsinkable boat with 8 people and all the animals, then throw a big beer bash and have everyone get out and urinate. This time lets swat all the flys on the boat.

Or even better, choose 100 or so people as your starting point so that your repopulation scenarios don't require first degree relatives to have sex with each other.

Ah, good point. Just leave the guns at home, before boarding the boat.

In case you get really bored, I'm starting a compilation of photos of movie scenes at 365project.org/bgreen999. I'll take a picture of an interesting movie scene, once a day, when I'm able to with my iPhone 4s. Then upload it to this 365 project website a co-worker told me about today. So far, the number of photos is Zero. Might do the first one tonight. Then try to guess what the movie is.
