So the kids are staying with my folks overnight this Saturday, giving the Mrs. and me a night out. Being the romantic that I am, she is picking the dinner and I got to pick the movie (Hellboy of course). Time with the wife notwithstanding, I plan on seizing the opportunity to put my relatively new HT through its paces (Denon 3805, M60s, QS8s, VP150, Hsu VTF2).
I've heard that the Master and Commander DVD is something to behold, so I'm planning on renting it. Any other suggestions for good AV fun?

my opinions are based on hearing movies on my friends systems, and advice from this forum.. i have yet to experience the HT experience in my own home..go with any of these, they will all impress..
any of the lord of the rings selections.
pirates of the caribbean.
saving private ryan.
finding nemo(darla tank scene will 'work' your sub)
open range
the bourne identity
the italian job
the patriot
i dont think you will be disappointed with any of these.. i am a sucker for westerns, so i say go with open range..

I'd add Gladiator to John's list as well. If you want a feel-good story with lots of ear & eye candy, Seabiscuit is a good choice.

The kids are away, you've got the house to yourselves, and you're spending it in front of the TV?

Unfortunately the Master And Commander DVD isn't available for rental until April 20. Any hope of giving the kids to Gramma and Grampa again the weekend of the 24th and 25th?
Peter, you have a dirty mind. Thank heaven.

Thanks for the suggestions (and the reference to the earlier string). M&C on the 24th? One word: Doh!
Pmbuko: No worries. I'm sure I'll be able to find ten minutes between flicks. (guess I won't be sending an email link of this string to the wifey).
Lion King/Pixar movies sound great but I can probably catch those with the kiddies, though not at the reference level volume I would prefer. Love the Private Ryan suggestion. The opening scene should be worth the price of admission right there.
FOR and TT sound good, though lengthy. Bourne Identity sounds like one I must get. Again, thanks.
