My gripes would be self-incriminating. NOW we're getting somewhere. Continue, please, Brian. C'mon, it's JP's birthday! He loves that crap.

When I'm texting while driving, it would be much safer to hold the phone up at eye level to see better. But, because of all the negativity about this activity, you have to hold it down where it's harder to keep an eye on the road, therefore contributing to the dangerous nature of it.
(I've recently stopped this dangerous activity. I pull off of the road first, when convenient.)
But my gripe is you sometimes have to make it more dangerous in order to do it in the first place, contributing to more accidents.
Perhaps a better solution would be for the car and phone companies to work together to disable the texting function while the motor is running.

There was a company a few years back that was working on a cell phone "jamming" device that would jam all cell phone signals within a 6 foot radius from the center of the passenger area of a car when the car was in motion.
Never made it to market...
Another one was a cell phone that would disable text capabilities when it (not necessarily while in a car) was moving faster than someone running. Never happened either.
The main issues were that these would disable usability for passengers in the car as well and not just the driver.
If I ever have to text when driving, I will wait for a stop light and use speech to text to get the message on to the phone and sent, and then I can still be aware of my surroundings, pull over, or just call the person. I used to text while driving, and while I would spend more time looking at the road than at the screen even while texting, I never felt comfortable doing it because there were several times where even though I was driving fine, another driver might be doing something stupid, and had I been engrossed into the text message, I would never have seen them being dumb.

Ahh, yes, I can easily see the self-incrimination, Brian. It's illegal here, (Massachusetts, not The Boards), but of course, one has to get caught first. I think you should change your name to Danger Kitty.
We should have an "I Confess" thread. Peter! Is there any way to make the poster anonymous? It'd make it way more fun for all of us to openly discuss our guesses as to who belongs with which confession(s). Oooooh. Now that'd be fun!

I confess that I have a poster of Bob in my bedroom.
Wait, where's the thread?
This is anonymous, right?

This is anonymous, right? From which "series" is your poster?

Some other guy named Bob, or Robert, or something. Had a last name that sounded like a tree.
Lemme check the fine print.
Yeah, yeah, here it is - "Robert Mapplethorpe, the X portfolio".

Ha! I remember giving lectures on those ('92) and having to post warning signs in the pre-dated material and at the door. I told the 30 people in the class that they could invite anyone they wanted. I had to move it to a lecture hall for 200. I promise you that they had a fun time---and learned something, too!

I wanted to make a joke involving erections and Calla Lillies, but I decided not to.
