so how does the "que" work now? the ad seems to indicate several users can connect at once.

How many out there really want to have multiple clients connected up to the Air? I think it's a minor use case; cool...but minor. It's really a feature for Andrew and his beer buddies on weekends smile.

Fred - you were connecting via a browser, which does not get any priority. If you used a streaming client the experience is better.

Newf - currently if Android users connect via a browser, an Apple device can connect and grab control. The Apple device can then play songs from iTunes that a user may have on the device. Without a client, Android cannot.

The setup at the 35th was a USB drive with music connected directly to one of the circuit boards. We connected to the Airplay hotspot, which allowed Android to web browse or Apple to connect. Android devices could browse the drive, remove songs from the playlist and stop/start the playback.

One interesting thing to note, even while an Apple device "owned" the Airplay, any device can connect via the browser and shut the entire system down.

A small script that I wrote that included a timer would reset the device whenever I opened any app on my phone, which provided a few laughs as one of the attendees always seemed to be trying to connect when it executed and he was harassed for stopping the music!

There were also numerous challenges trying to connect to the hotspot for both Android and Apple.

Mike, I never quite managed to connect. From what I remember though, if one iPhone had control, another could not connect.

I'm not suggesting the experience is bad, quite the contrary, I now think its an interesting tech.

I just think that the idea of being able to que music from multiple devices might be quite useful.

It'd be cool to see a future firmware update allow the Axion Air to show up on the network as a Chromecast audio device. smile

Fred, I agree that is interesting, however I think there needs to be....how to phrase this....different functionality than what was available for us to work with.

I understand that Axiom is chasing Apple's blessing, which will assist in adoption.

As Andrew said a few times when questions arose "I am the hardware guy..." Not sure who is the code jockey on this one!

Interesting, I must admit that I never paid any attention to the product before seeing the guts at the 35th, as it was not something that I was looking to acquire.

I wonder if it's possible to have the AA setup to have a primary phone which would have precedence over the other connected phones. For example my android phone would take over the playlist que when I felt like it in a room full of iPhones.
