Cool one eh? I really enjoyed the emphasis on using discrete sounds in the mix and the retro synth soundtrack. Great foreboding atmosphere. My wife and I generally prefer the sound quality of bluray discs and avoid Netflix if we have a disc option. Stranger Things was one of the first Netflix experiences we had where the sound quality and mix were dynamic and life-like. Promising things for the future of streaming content we hope! Really a great show overall. If you like Stephen king style storytelling or the old X-files series I recommend it.

And from a look to the future, now a look to the past.
The last VHS players to be made will ship by the end of this month. VHS tape mfg. stopped in '08. There are those hanging on to all of it, thinking that it will make a resurgence, like vinyl.
My final 50-pounder worked for almost 3 years for almost $700 ($1,000 list, at the time). For about 5 more years, it sat on the TV stand as a clock, or as we then called it, "an anchor that tells time."
I don't agree, but I definitely understand the vinyl thing for some. But now, when I see CRT, I have to look far more intently to "make out" what I'm looing AT. From up close, it doesn't look like either an image or actual colors, just mush. I can't imagine even being willing to watch CRT, regardless the content.
Plus, tape degrades just sitting there, unless it's in an archivally temp/humid. controlled environment. Vinyl isn't as fragile, except in high heat, and/or stored incorrectly.
There are two new (to Comcast prisoners, anyway) channels. One is Buzz or Buzzer. It's programing is TV game shows from the 50's through the early 80's. The images are horrible and were never meant to be viewed with any clarity. The stage sets for some are dismally constructed and badly faux painted woods, that couldn't be discerned on a 12"-round B & W screen in a 3' sq. finished mahogany box that weighted 180 lbs.
The other "new" channel is called "Decades." They show programming of all sorts from the 50's through 80's. Bad programming. Programming that, most likely, has expired rights.
Mark Goodson and Bill Todman may be dead (Google them. They once owned the world.) but their crap is still selling advertising time. Whodathunk?
And ditto on the, "Gimme the bluray disc for now," Trevor.

Always call the place you live a house. When you're old, everyone else will call it a home.

Note to self... time to take VCR out of audio rack... Vinyl I understand... not the medium as much as the mixing practices of the time (and all the awesome music that hasn't been re-released on anything digital yet)... but VHS always seemed like something that needed to be replaced ASAP. Now Betamax, that was a different story

Liked Browns boys. Wife hates it. Only watched a couple.
Stranger Things on Netflix. Check it out guys. I friend of mine dislocated a rib from laughing so hard when I played him a couple Browns Boys clips off Youtube. Seriously, he had to get a chiropractor to get him to breath right. I bought the whole series on BR. Love it. Some like British humor, some hate it. Doesn't seem to be any middle ground.

Lol!! that's feck'n funny, Michael!! Watched "Trumbo" the other day. Great story. John Wayne is a dink. We checked out "Stranger Things". Not a bad idea but it felt too much like an after-school special imo. With the exception of the young girl who played "El", the acting and story execution were kind of lacking, again, my opinion of course. Spoiler alert Look!! there's a slimy passageway in that tree with a flesh eating monster living in a dark dimension on the other side...it tried to kill me already but I'm going in because I'm curious...

Child of the 80s. Cant help it. We crushed all 5 seasons of VEEP. Satire mixed with a sobering look at politics. Worth checking out.

Top Spin, documentary about table tennis, was pretty good. It's on Netflix. It looks like such a fun sport if you're that gifted at it.
Jason Bourne was decent. A weaker entry in the series, but still better than most movies of that kind.
