Sicario
It's probably around my fifth time watching it, and I appreciate it more each time. Writing, cinematography, acting, soundtrack, overall sound design, just the visceral tension throughout; it leaves me in awe. The UHD Blu-ray is worth it. With the LFR1100 Actives and no center, I didn't feel I was missing anything across the front soundstage. I'm really enjoying the system, and this is going to be a disc I use to show off my system to friends.

Dune Official TrailerThe first trailer for the new Denis Villeneuve Dune movie has finally hit the internet. I love his directing, but going by the trailer, I'm not sure it's going to capture the feel of the book. I'll have to be okay with it being its own thing. I'm sure it will be a spectacle and a lot of fun for my home theater. What do you think?

I learned a long time ago to lower my expectations for movies that follow after a book that I've read..... Even when they do follow the written work, casting doesn't match my mental picture of the characters in the book.
The Dune trailer looks great to me. I remember when the first movie came out. It was super cool at the time.

Even when they do follow the written work, casting doesn't match my mental picture of the characters in the book. Yeah, it's hard to overcome that. Even harder when it has already been a movie and then those actors put their stamp on your mental image. I'm really excited about the movie. I think what I meant about it potentially not feeling like the book is because the book has so much philosophical inner monologue, which the 1984 movie awkwardly tried to capture. It will be interesting to see how they address that aspect of the story. I have to believe in Villeneuve after I've seen how he's handled character and story in his other work. He seems to know what he's doing, and this seems to be his ultimate passion project. But yeah, I think the movie could hit all of the story beats and still feel different, just because it's a visual medium, and they'll be filling out the action sequences, which the book quickly rushes through. That just didn't seem to be a priority for Herbert. I think I should take it as something to enjoy about the adaptation, rather than as a betrayal to the source material. I think my main concern is the choice to split the book into two movies. I figured it would be like other recent adaptations they've done that with, where they did all of the filming at once, then released the two halves a year apart to account for post-production time. From what I read, the second half hasn't been filmed, which means I'm guessing 3 or 4 years before the second half comes out. That's a pretty cruel wait. Maybe I don't have accurate information.

I definitely miss hitting the theater for new releases I'm excited about, even though I have such a nice system at home. There's something fun about being in a bigger audience. What other movies are you looking forward to?

CV, there's not really a lot to look forward to right now for new movies, although I'm a die hard James Bond fan so I'm pumped about the new 007 flick, plus my wife wants to see the new Wonder Women movie! I prefer the in home experience with Axion speakers over the traditional experience.

There wasn't a dry eye in the house when, 1 hour into The Angel has Fallen, a rag tag Nick Nolte lit up the forest with blazing bombs. As man-parts cart-wheeled across the rugged landscape, 7500W of active LFRs lit up the space with bombastic blasts as 5500 Watts of subbage shook our seats. The coup de gras was the QS10HPs propitiously pummeling the soundscape with a plurality of 750W pounding punches. Ian and Andrew have done good. Very good!

Meat Eater on Netflix.
Not your typical hunting/fishing show. Beautifully shot and presented in a way that draws you into the experience. Highly recommended.
I dont even hunt.
