So I don't live in a cave but I just heard today that Apple no longer supports Itunes...lol. Here is my dilemma. I have an old Imac (2010?) with Itunes on it. I have approximately 100gb of cd's in my Itunes library, all burned to Apple Lossless codec. I do not stream any music or buy anything from Itunes. I just transfer music files to my iPod for use in my truck, and I have been streaming over wifi to my receiver.
But now I want to be able to play my Itunes cd's in another room and I am looking for way to play those cd's on my receiver without streaming wifi or Bluetooth, or moving my current Imac. My plan was to transfer my Itunes library from the old Imac to another computer that is located next to my receiver. I was going to connect the other computer to the receiver using 3.5mm Jack to RCA cable. So I have been looking for a cheap option for a refurbished Imac that still is compatible with Itunes but I am not sure about how to manage all that.
So now I am thinking maybe it is time to move on from Itunes.
What other options do I have to burn cd's to a hard drive, organize them and play them on my receiver using a hard wire connection?
I want to hard wire because it is my understanding that no streaming options will transfer the ALAC files without compression. Is this accurate? Or should I be looking into streaming options?

The Apple Music app doesn’t work on your Mac?
Think you can also load your music on a usb stick and put it in the back of your receiver…

I should also mention that I had to upgrade from my intel 2016 Macbook pro … just to run turbo tax. Was planing on upgrading any way to run the latest Xcode and sdks. At 8 years I thought was doing well … you’re gotten even 6 years more out of yours … it might be time.
BTW … got a m4 mini for about $539 on sale at Amazon … at that price it was a no brainer.

Thanks. I guess I just need to research the Music app. I thought it was just for streaming and has a monthly fee. If I can continue to store my music files as I do with iTunes then it will work.

Monthly fee is only to access apple’s streaming offerings … you can still play your ripped music.

I should also mention that I had to upgrade from my intel 2016 Macbook pro … just to run turbo tax. It's unfortunate you don't have access to high quality tax filing software like Ufile.
